Part A : Giving instructions
Step1 Lead-in
1. Show the studying aims.
2. A game: I say, you do.
【Purpose】Warm students up for the following tasks and imperative sentences.
Step 2 Presentation
1. Lead students to review the reading part: Andrew and his DIY
2.Work out the rules of imperative sentences..
Discussion:
What do you say when you want to tell people to do something
What do you say when you want to tell people not to do something

【Purpose】This step is to lead students to sum up something and get to know the rules. Meanwhile, their thinking ability can be developed here.
Step3 Practise.
Instuctions in daily life.
1. Instructions in public places.
Make up imperative sentences according to the signs.
2. Instructions from your teachers.
Listen to the tape and match the teachers with the instructions.
Step4 Sum up.
Part B : Giving ideas
Step1.Presentation
1. Read and observe.
Read and compare sentences.
【Purpose】This step is designed to stimulate students’ desire to know more and learn more about “should” and “had better”.
2. Discussion
How to give advice
We use _______ and _____________ when giving advice and telling people what we think is the best or right thing to do.
【Purpose】This step is designed to stimulate students’ thinking ability and lead students to sum up something and get to know the rules. Meanwhile, their thinking ability can be developed here.
3. Give advice to Andrew
Change the sentences with should, had better
【Purpose】This step is designed to stimulate students’ creative thinking. Also, giving advice to Andrew can help them practice using structure on their own and think more about DIY.
4.Work out the rule.

1.Pair work: Make up a dialogue to give advice to your classmates.

【Purpose】 Students are required to think about what to ask and answer. This is also a foundation for the writing. Also, making dialogues in the perspective can help them practice using structures.
