Ⅰ.阅读理解
Between flights, as I sat in the Denver airport, a young man, maybe half my 46 years, approached me. He tilted his head toward the chair next to mine, and then toward my suitcase blocking the chair. There were many open seats. Why did he choose this one I thought. When he sat, I noticed the markings on his bag and his faded camouflage (迷彩服) uniform.
He told me he had just come from Afghanistan. He was going home for a few days of leave. He said it was almost harder to leave the war than to stay, leaving others behind. But he had to go back and this might be his last chance to see his mom.
I remember how he scanned the room warily (谨慎地) as he talked and when he looked at me, his eyes kept no distance. He seemed to want something from me. I could not tell what it was.
He said it was hard to stop scanning for danger. The day before, he'd been in the desert. Fellow soldiers, men under his command, had been blown into pieces around him. This day, he was in an airport trying to understand the anger over flight delays, and the rush for coffee. He didn't know how to be here in this place.
I thought maybe I understood. Only weeks before, my friend's teenage son had died suddenly. One evening, after spending still hours with a broken mother, I went to my daughter's theater performance. In the crowded lobby before the show, mothers complained about their seats and other small slights. I felt disoriented and distant. I told the soldier about this.He breathed deeply and showed a small smile. I had given him a sliver of connection.
He'd seen something raw during his military service. He knew what was real and mattered. When he returned, he found it was hard for him to experience the peace. But he did not know how to tell us. I realized this was what he needed from me. He did not want the seat beside mine. He wanted to sit with me.He needed to feel safe and understood for a brief while between here and there.
I did not know his name, and how long his tour of duty would last. I hoped his mother had a strong heart. We sat together until our flights were called and then said goodbye as the two strangers heading home.

A.after listening to the author's experience

For most Americans, plastic bags are a necessary part of any shopping trip. __1__ But plastic bags that end up in oceans and on beaches are harmful to fish, birds and other wildlife. Several cities around the U.S. have either banned single use plastic bags, tax (征税) them, or find other ways to limit their use. Those who support a bag tax say it encourages people to bring reusable bags. __2__ But critics argue that taxing the use of plastic bags puts unfair stress on low income families. Here two students share their views.
Grant Gordinier, 11, from San Diego, California, says, “__3__ Every year, 485 billion plastic bags are not recycled. Some end up in the ocean and can cause harm to sea life. Placing a small tax on plastic bags might encourage shoppers to bring their own reusable bags to stores. Reusable bags would cut down on waste in the environment. Businesses would also save money by not having to provide as many plastic bags to customers.”
However, Elle Belperio, 12, from Los Angeles, California, has different opinions. “__4__ Some grocery stores (杂货店) have bins for shoppers to recycle used bags. Other stores reward individual efforts. They give a small refund every time a shopper uses his or her own bag. If you reuse and recycle your plastic bag properly, you will not be hurting the environment. I know many families reuse them to pick up after their dogs. __5__ Instead, the government should educate people in ways to reuse and recycle them.”
A.New York City will also ban plastic bags.
B.There are many ways to reuse plastic bags.
C.In my home, we find many uses for the bags.
D.Besides, they think it helps cut down on wastes.

As is often the case, when people are attending to meetings, having meals or waiting for buses, you can always find them addicting to their phones, completely ignoring others.
This is really a common phenomena in our life. The reason is why smart phones nowadays can be used for people to play mobile games and kept in touch with friends through QQ and WeChat. As far as I am concerned, people should wisely make use of their phones to help their work and study. Meanwhile, care much about their family and friends rather than mobile phones.PAGE
