When it comes to the British royal family (王室), one thing is almost always true: They have a pretty puzzling set of official rules. For example, the royal family doesn't have a last name. When attending formal daytime events, all women must wear hats. And don't forget the fact that Queen Elizabeth celebrates two birthdays every year.
If your head isn't swimming yet, consider the tradition of royal titles. According to British custom, only the daughter of a prince or a prince's wife may be considered a “princess”. Kate is an example of the latter. She is both a princess and the Duchess of Cambridge because she married Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge. And their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, also bear official royal titles.
However, while Prince George's and Prince Louis' future children will also carry their father's royal status (身份), any children that Princess Charlotte has will not naturally be considered princes or princesses. Why According to royal custom, royal titles are passed down through sons, but not daughters.
“Royal titles are inherited (继承) through sons, so if Princess Charlotte has children, they would not naturally inherit the titles HRH (his or her royal highness), Prince, or Princess,” Lucy Hume, director of etiquette experts Debrett's, told Town & Country.
Of course, exceptions can and will be made. The Queen has provided HRH status for other royal children in the past, including the children of Queen Elizabeth's daughter, Anne. Although Princess Anne and her husband, Captain Phillips, refused, perhaps Princess Charlotte will be provided the_same_offer when her own children are born.
24.Why does the author give three examples in Paragraph 1
A.To tell us the difference of the royal family.
B.To introduce the most important official rules.
C.To show some royal customs are difficult to understand.
D.To prove British royal family keeps its traditions very well.
25.What can we learn from Paragraph 2
A.Kate got her title because of her sons.
B.Princess Charlotte's title comes from her father.
C.A prince's wife is called the Duchess of Cambridge.
D.Prince William got his title because of Princess Kate.
26.What do Lucy Hume's words show
A.A princess' son is also called a prince.
B.A prince's children are more important.
C.All of a prince's children can inherit titles.
D.Princess Charlotte's children are different.
27.What does the underlined part “the same offer” in the last paragraph refer to
A.Being provided with HRH status.
B.Anne and her husband's decision.
C.Inheriting a royal title from a prince.
D.Anne's children having the same title as her.
C
It all started a few years ago in the quiet village of Mollington after a number of burglaries (盗窃). Those living in the village came up with the idea that they themselves could keep an eye on their neighbours' property (财产) while they were away on holiday. Since then, with the help of the government and police, more than 50,000 “Neighbourhood Watch” schemes (项目) have been set up in the UK.
The object of each “Watch” group is to prevent things like this from happening again in any street or area. Each villager who is a member of the scheme agrees to do their best to stop anyone stealing something in the village. Everything is done calmly and carefully — it is the police who check out each report and find out what is happening. Villagers who are part of the group are not supposed to act as police or put themselves in any danger.
When a new “Neighbourhood Watch” scheme is set up in an area, the first thing people notice is the large, brightly coloured “Neighbourhood Watch” board. This is a real warning to most burglars, because very few of them will take a chance of breaking into someone's house if they know that there is a high risk of being seen by neighbours keeping a lookout. Burglars also know that people who are part of the “Neighbourhood Watch” schemes are more likely to have fitted good locks to their doors and windows.
Since the “Neighbourhood Watch” scheme was set up, there are fewer burglaries and there is a new community spirit. It is bringing people together as never before, and encouraging people to care for each other. New friendships are also being made.
28.The “Neighbourhood Watch” scheme in Mollington was started ________.
A.as the first of its kind in the UK
B.after 50,000 burglaries in the area
C.because the police were short of hands
D.because it was a popular holiday centre
29.The job for members of a “Watch” group is to ________.
A.do their best to catch burglars
B.ask strangers to leave at once
C.help those who are in trouble
D.report a burglary to the police
30.What does the author think of the scheme
A.He doubts it. B.It is worrying.
C.It is successful. D.He is uncertain about it.
31.What's the purpose of the text
A.To advise. B.To discuss.
C.To educate. D.To introduce.
D
What is one of the most boring and tiresome words ever Responsibility, I think, is one of those words you have probably heard so many times from authority. Sometimes, it asks us to do things that are unpleasant or even frightening.
Once in a hospital a male patient knocked over a cup of water, which spilled (洒) on the floor beside the patient's bed. The patient was afraid he might slip on the water if he got out of the bed, so he asked his nurse's assistant to mop it up.
The patient didn't know it, but the hospital policy said that small spills were the responsibility of the assistant while large spills were to be mopped up by the hospital's housekeepers.
The nurse's assistant decided that the spill was a large one and she called a housekeeper. The housekeeper arrived but said that the spill was a small one. An argument followed.
“It's not my responsibility,” said the nurse's assistant. “Because it's a large puddle (水洼).” The housekeeper did not agree. “Well, it's not mine,” she said. “The puddle is too small.”
The patient listened for a while, and then he took a bottle of water from his night table and poured the whole thing on the floor. “Is that a big enough puddle now for you two to decide?” he asked. It was the end of the argument.
So, responsibility is about our ability to respond to situations and to choose the attitudes, actions and reactions that shape our lives. It is a concept (观念) of power that puts us in the driver's seat. If you want more control over your life, all you have to do is to be responsible. Responsible people not only depend on themselves, but show others that they can be depended on.
32.According to Para.1, the author thinks that responsibility ________.
A.is the most boring word
B.may upset people sometimes
C.causes people to do bad things
D.matters more to authority figures
33.The nurse's assistant argued with the housekeeper because ________.
A.they looked down upon each other's job
B.they didn't want to break the hospital policy
C.they didn't know what the hospital policy was
D.they each thought the other should mop up the puddle
34.Who probably mopped the water up at last
A.The patient. B.The patient's nurse.
C.The nurse's assistant. D.The housekeeper.
35.The author wants to tell us that, to control our life, we should ________.
A.show others that we are reliable
B.respond to situations quickly
C.learn to be responsible
D.trust no one but ourselves

He doesn't want to sell cars again, but he isn't sure what he wants to do with his life. Jack is one of the small number of winners who did not quit his job. Jack still teaches at a school near his home. But now he and his wife take their children on an interesting vacation every year. And they won't worry about the charge for their children in colleges. They say that money brings security and gives opportunities, but it doesn't bring happiness.

34.Who probably mopped the water up at last
A.The patient. B.The patient's nurse.
C.The nurse's assistant. D.The housekeeper.
