在复合句中修饰动词、形容词、副词的从句就叫做状语从句
根据其不同的意义，可分为时间、地点、原因、方式、让步、结果、目的、比较、条件等从句。
时间状语从句
引导词：when, whenever, as , while, before, after, till, until, since,
no sooner… than;
hardly/ scarcely … when (一…就)
注意： no sooner， hardly， scarcely 置于句首时，句子要部分倒装
Scarcely had the game begun when it started raining.
由every time, the moment, the minute 等引导的从句也可用作时间状语，此时后面不需再用连接词when.
Every time I see you ，I feel a bit nervous.

when = since, considering that 既然；考虑到;
介词短语表原因– because of, thanks to, due to, owing to;

1）though, although, as, while
though和although不能与but连用
as引导让步状语从句，意思与although/though相同，但是as通常放在句首，且主谓要倒装，as前面的词可以是形容词、副词，也可以是动词、名词。
1)Rich as he is, he is not happy.
= Although he is rich, he is not happy.
2)Try as he might, he couldn’t move this stone.
= Although he might try, he couldn’t move this stone.
3)Child as he is, he knows what to do at this time.
= Although he is a child, he knows what to do at this time.
C. while引导让步状语从句，只能放在句首，意思与although/though相同。
While I feel sympathetic, I really can’t do anything to help them.
While he may be right, we don’t agree him to do it.
2) even if/though 即使······也
Even though it’s hard work, I enjoy it.
3)疑问词 + ever = no matter + 疑问词（在让步状语从句中）
