“Amy! Milk!” Mama called.
Milk. It was Amy’s turn to get it. Amy sighed and shut her first-aid (急救) book.
Amy tied the cow close to a tree. Somewhere down the mountain, some volunteer doctors were teaching medical skills to village nurses. Amy heard Betty dive off hours ago. “She should have taken me with her. She thinks I’m too young.” Amy thought. “But she’s wrong. I am already 15!”
Amy carried the milk back to Mama, then wandered up the road. Roy, a village boy, was trying to stand on a horse’s back. “No wonder they don’t trust kids with anything important.” Amy thought.
She had just turned away when she heard a heavy fall and a few cries. Roy was on the ground. “Roy!” The kids nearby ran towards him. “Get Betty.” one said. Amy shook her head. “Betty’s gone to the city.”
The kids didn’t know what to do. Amy ran to Roy and saw one of his legs out of shape. A broken leg! She remembered what the first-aid book said about it.
“Victor!” Amy called to one of the boys. “Go get Roy’s mama, and find someone with a truck.” She turned to the others. “Give me your shirts. We need something to tie his leg with.”
Amy then found a strong, straight stick. She carefully wrapped the shirts around Roy’s leg and the stick. Roy cried out in pain. “I know it hurts.” Amy said softly. “But this will hold it still until you get to the hospital.”
When Amy was done, she looked up and saw Roy’s mama and a man watching beside a truck. “Thank you, Amy.” Roy’s mama said. Amy helped them lift Roy into the truck, then they drove down the hillside towards the hospital.
The next day, Betty came to Amy’s home. “I heard what you did.” Betty said. “You kept your head in an emergency. That’s an important skill.”
Amy’s face turned red. “I was afraid.”
Betty shook her head. “It’s OK for a nurse to be afraid, as long as she has a clear head. The volunteer doctors are coming tomorrow with vaccines. We need some more hands. Can you help ”
“I’d love to.” Amy replied at once.
“Come early, then. There is a lot to learn.”
Amy smiled. “I’ll bring my first-aid book.”

Food deliverymen (外卖员) can be seen on nearly every street in many Chinese cities. However, the job is becoming increasingly dangerous.
Recently, an article in the Chinese magazine showed how difficult the job can be. It describes the physical and mental (身心的) pressure that delivery workers face because of time limits (限制) set by food delivery apps. Delivering an order late, even by one second, results in a fine (罚款).
The time limit has increased the risk of traffic accidents. According to a 2017 report, a serious injury or death involving (涉及) a delivery worker happens every 2.5 days in Shanghai.
According to the article, the time limit for each order is set by an algorithm (算法). If an order is finished within the time limit, the limit will be shortened for every delivery worker. But the algorithm doesn’t consider real-life situations. To solve the problem, a food delivery company Eleme said it will add something new to its delivery app. Customers can choose to click a button (点击按钮) which means they are willing to wait longer to give riders more time.
However, some people questioned that change. “Will riders be forced to take more orders if I choose to click that button ” said Wang Fang, a 17-year-old student from Hefei. “It is much better to let the apps change their algorithm. We customers are not responsible for this matter.”
30. The first and second paragraphs show that _________.

B. The time limit has been shortened by Eleme.
C. Many customers don’t want to give riders more delivery time.

33. What is the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage
A. To show how terrible the traffic jam in China is.
B. To ask the food delivery companies to pay more for deliverymen.
C. To call on food delivery companies to take more useful action.
D. To encourage customers to be polite to food deliverymen.

Food, and the way we eat it, is always changing. As society develops, we learn new ways of growing, processing and cooking food. What we ate 200 years ago was very different from what we eat today. Also, when people move to foreign countries, they take their knowledge of cooking with them. And food must fit modern lifestyles and local tastes, too. One food that has done this successfully is pizza.
The pizza we recognize today first appeared in Italy in 1889. A famous baker from Naples made a pizza for the Italian royal (皇室的) family. He was very worried they wouldn’t like it, but they did. Queen Margherita loved the dish so much, and the baker named it after her. Since then, this simple meal of bread cheese and tomato has begun its journey in the world, and it has adapted (适应) to local cultures. Pizza began its tour in the 1890s, when many Indians moved to New York in search of a better life. There they continued to make pizzas, and the first pizzeria opened in 1905.
At first it was only popular with Indians, but by the late 1940s, Americans discovered a taste for it. Today they spend $37 billion a year on pizzas. That’s more than $100 per American.
Pizza continued its tours all over the world adapting all the time. In Sweden, it is usual to have bananas on pizzas. In Belgium, people eat chocolate pizzas with marshmallows. As a nation of seafood lovers, Japanese love adding octopus and squid, as well as roasted seaweed on the pizzas. Australians sometimes choose kangaroo or crocodile on their pizza.
The popularity of pizza is also related to our changing lifestyles. In today’s super-fast society, people usually don’t have the time or energy to cook. So, what they like ordering to take out is pizza. Sometimes you don’t even have to pick it up, it’s delivered to your home. If you don’t even have time to sit down, buy a single slice and eat it standing up.
Pizza has come a long way. From its beginnings in an Italian city, it has grown to one of the world’s favorite foods.
34. What does “this” refer to in Paragraph 1
A. People improve the ways of cooking
B. Food changes people’s eating habits.

C. Americans have little interest in pizza in the late 1940s.
D. Pizza made its journey to New York because of Indians in 1890.
36. How does the writer develop Paragraph 4
