I.阅读表达
[1]Surely, it’s good to get along well with your teacher because it makes the time you spend in the classroom more pleasant. But really, there’s one super important reason why you should get along well with your teacher. When you do, “Learning bursts right open.” says Evelyn Vuko, a long-time teacher who writes an education column called “Teacher Says” for the Washington Post newspaper.
[2]In fact, kids who get along well with their teachers not only learn more, but they’re more comfortable asking questions and getting extra help. This makes it easier to understand new materials and do their best on tests. When you have this kind of relationship with a teacher, he or she can be someone to turn to with problems, such as problems with learning.
[3]As a kid in elementary or middle school, you’re at a wonderful stage in your life. You’re like a sponge (海绵), able to ________. Besides, you’re able to think about all this information in new ways. Your teacher knows that, and, in most cases, is excited to be the person who’s giving you all that material and helping you put it together. Remember, teachers are people, too, and they feel great if you’re open to what they’re teaching you. That’s why they wanted to be teachers in the first place—to teach!
[4]Some kids may be able to learn in any case, whether they like the teacher or not. But most kids are sensitive to the way they get along with the teacher, and if things aren’t going well, they won’t go well, they won’t learn as well and won’t enjoy being in class.

V. Is Watching TV a Good Thing
The television has changed people’s life much since it was invented. Now it has become one important part of modern life.
People enjoy themselves after hard work by watching TV. They can see some plays, some stories, and some sports matches without going out of home. TV programmes make people’s life more interesting.
People also learn much from TV, and students can study by watching some educational programmes. People can see news, weather reports, programmes about science and computer.
But not all the programmes are good enough. And watching TV usually takes too much time. It’s not good for people’s work and study. It’s not good for their eyes, either.
Is watching TV a good thing or a bad one I think it depends on people themselves. If one can choose good programmes and he doesn’t spend too much time on TV, it can be a good thing for him.

Like other marsupials(有袋动物), a koala mother carries her baby in her pocket until it's large enough to ride on her back.
Though often called the koala "bear", this lovely animal isn't a bear at all; it's a marsupial. After giving birth, a female koala carries her baby in her pocket for about six months. When the young comes out, it rides on its mother's back or hangs on to her belly(肚子) until it's about a year old.
Koalas live in eastern Australia, where the eucalyptus trees(桉树) they love are most plentiful. In fact, they hardly leave these trees, and their sharp "feet" easily keep them in the high place. During the day they sleep sometimes, put themselves into forks in the trees, sleeping for up to 18 hours.
When not asleep, a koala feeds on eucalyptus leaves, especially at night. Koalas do not drink much water and they get most of their moisture from these leaves. Each animal eats a large amount for its size—about two and a half pounds of leaves a day. Koalas even store snacks of leaves in pockets.
A special digestive(消化的) system allows koalas to break down the hard eucalyptus leaves and remain unharmed. Koalas eat so many of these leaves that they take on a special smell, making you think of cough pills.
These fat animals with soft hair were widely hunted during the 1920s and 1930s, and their populations were too small for them to survive for long. Helped by reintroduction, they have reappeared in greater numbers, but their populations are still too few and they live just where they can. Koalas need a lot of space—about a hundred trees per animal—a pressing problem as Australia’s woodlands continue to reduce in size.
