One of the most impressive practices of labor education for me was a spring field trip organized by our school, where the teachers taught us to build insect hotels. We first studied the living habits of insects and designed proper shelters for them, as if we were professional insect “by-sitters”. Then, we built environmentally-friendly hotels and placed them outdoors, using completely natural materials collected from the forests.
Although this trip appeared to be nothing but an educative activity, it turned out to be inspiring when we surprisingly found the hotels rally occupied by many insects afterward. This made me recognize that labor education counts and it is to the overall development of a teenager what water is to the growth of a tree.
