1. Greetings.
2. Show the video—You Are My Sunshine, and the students sing together.
3. Lead-in. Ask the students the question:
What kind of music is this song
StepⅡ. Pre-reading
1. Free-talk. What do you know about country music
2. Introduce something about country music.
Step Ⅲ. While-reading
1. Fast-reading.
1) Give students 2 minutes to read the passage, and answer three questions.
2) Reading skill 1: The first and the last sentence can always help us understand the passage well.
2. Careful-reading.
1) Finish the Country Music Fact Sheet.
a. Find the key words first, and check it.
b. Give students 4 minutes to finish the Country Music Fact Sheet.
c. Check the answer.
d. Reading skill 2: Key words can help you find the answers quickly.
2) Finish the mind map in groups, then retell it together. (Circle the key words first)
a. Give the students 6 minutes to finish the mind map and prepare the retelling.
b. Before retelling, check the key words.
c. Retell the story group by group.
d. Reading skill 3: Retelling is a very good way to summarize the passage.
