Step 1 Warm-up
1. Ask two questions ‘What do you often do in your spare time ’‘ Do you like listening to music ’to lead students into an English world.
2. Students will give a variety of answers in short time.
Step 2 Lead-in
Present some pictures of famous singers and musicians on the screen, ask students if they know them and if they have enjoyed their pieces. If students can list some pieces of theirs, it will be better. If not, the teacher could list some in order to make students clear.
Step 3 Activity 1a
Students will talk about their favorite singer and musician with partner, and they also tell the reason why they like him or her.
Step 4 Activity 1b
1. Present 3 pictures of music group on the screen. Teach students the word ‘ band’ and the phrase ‘ be made up of ’.
2. Listen to a conversation and complete the task. During the first time listening, students should catch the main idea of the conversation. Then, students must check the right capital letter before each opinion on the second listening.
Step 5 Activity 1c
Students should fill in the chart about the band, The Toms. They will be given two chances to listen to the dialogue. After checking the answer, students will give a brief introduction to this band according to the information in the chart.
Step 6 Activity 1d
Students will understand 4 kinds of music by listening to sound clip. Then they will be divided into 6 groups to make a survey. Several minutes later, students will be invited to interview each other on the stage.Ⅵ.Consolidation
Fill in an English song. Students will complete 5 blanks while listening. Then we will check it together.
