Ability goal:
1. Students can understand and read some materials about environmental protection.

1.Students know something about the activity “ building a civilized city ” in Shantou.
2.students understand the importance of protecting the environment and saving the earth.
3.They can start from the simplest daily activities to save the earth.

Teaching procedure:
Step 1: Introduction of the topic in Unit 13
1.Show some pictures about the activity”building a civilized city” to lead
into the topic”environmental protection”.
2.Introduce different kinds of the pollution by showing some pictures.
Step 2: Play a game Guess what pollution it is
Step 3:Activity 2a, 2b,
1. Listen to an interview in 2a, guess what pollution it is
2. do 2b (listening)
Step 4:Activity 1b , 1c
1.Play a video about the pollution of Lianjiang River
2.Do Activity 1b ( listening)
3.Moral education: Everyone should play a part in protecting the water.
4.Practice: make new conversations about Lianjiang River. ( speaking)
Step 5:Activity 2d
1.Watch a video about the disasters that pollution brings to humans.
2.Groupwork: read the dialogue in 2d, discuss and complete a chart. (discussion)
3.Read the conversation together. ( reading)
Step 6 : Students’ opinions
1. Students show what they do in their daily life to save the earth.
2. Moral education: Let’s begin with the simplest everyday activities.
3. Show some pictures about what other things students can do in their daily life.
4. Teacher and the students make a promise:
