Scientists have done much research on the weather, but there are still a few weather mysteries. Lightning balls are just one of these strange weather mysteries. One summer, six years ago, I experienced a ball of lightning. It was terrible and strange, and it changed the way I felt during a thunderstorm(雷暴雨).
I was sitting in my kitchen, watching the end of a large thunderstorm. The day became quiet after the thunderstorm. The rain stopped and the sun came out slowly.
Suddenly, there was a loud explosion(爆炸声)at the ground below the kitchen window. Without warning, a ball of what seemed like fire entered my home and moved towards me.
I was frightened, unable to move. The ball was about the size of a football. It was colorful. It moved slowly. Just as the lightning ball was about to hit my face, I reached out my hand to touch the ball. I thought that it was better to do that than to let the ball hit me in the face. Just before my finger touched the ball of fire, there was a loud explosion and then it disappeared.
The room was completely silent and there was a strong smell in the air. It all happened very quickly, but it left me with a strong memory. Never again have I been able to rest easily during or right after a thunderstorm.

may可能;must必须,一定;can't不能,不可能;belong to sb.
must必须;might可能; can t不可能。第一个空根据but I'm mot sure(但我不确定)可知,表示肯定推测用might。 I saw him at the store just now可知,那不可能是他,否定推测用can't,故选B。
3.B
根据because I saw her in the office just now可知,她到伦敦这个消息肯定不是真的,语气强,所以用can't表否定的猜测。
can't不可能,不能;must必须,一定;may可能,也许;mustn't 不可以,禁止;第一个空,根据Helen's name is on the cover"封面上是海伦的名字"可知,"不可能"是珍妮的教科书。 Helen's name is on the cover"封面上是海伦的名字"可知,"一定"是海伦的。用must。
故选A。
need需要,may能,can't不能,couldn't不能,是can't的过去式,根据:I keep the book for a week 可知:该句请求对方的同意,应该用may,根据I'm afraid可知此处表示不同意,回答用can't,不用委婉表达couldn't,故选D。

First, there is a photo of Jay Chou in the schoolbag. Li Shah and Liu Fang are both fans of Jay Chou. The schoolbag might belong to either of them. Second, there is a hair band in the schoolbag. Liu Fang has long hair, so the schoolbag could be hers. Third, there is a basketball in the schoolbag. Li Shan's favourite sport is baseball, so the schoolbag can't be hers. Because Liu Fang's favourite sport is basketball, the schoolbag must belong to her.
