When spring came to the city of Cleveland, Ohio, it did not change Gate Avenue which was a short street. But it seemed long because it was so ugly that most of the families who lived there had very little money. Their houses had not been painted in many years. The street itself was ugly, too. It had no pavement (人行道) and no streetlight.
Most of the little girls in the school near Gates Avenue wore pretty new clothes. But the little girl from Gates Avenue had worn the same dirty dress that she had worn all winter. It was probably the only dress she owned.
Her teacher signed. The little girl was so nice and always worked hard in school. But her face was dirty and her hair was untidy. One day the teacher said, "Will you wash your hair before you come to school tomorrow morning Please do that for me."
The next morning the child's pretty face had been washed. Her hair was clean and tidy, too. Before she went home that afternoon, the teacher bought a bright blue dress and gave it to the little girl. The child took the present and hurried home as fast as she could.
When the little girl's father saw her in the new blue dress, he was surprised to find that he had a pretty little girl. When the family sat down to eat supper, he was even more surprised to find a table cloth put on the table by her wife which the family had never used before. After supper the mother started to wash the floors and her husband went outside to repair the fence.
During the next week, the man next door watched the little girl's family's "cleanup". Then he started to paint his house for the first time in ten years.
A few months later Gates Avenue looked like a different street. There was pavement on the avenue and a streetlight on the corner. For the people who live in the homes, life has been made better.

2.B分析句子可知,主语the old men and the children、和动词词组take good care of之间为被动关系,设空处前面有弃天帝must,所以这里应该用情态动词的被动语态,must be+Vpp,排除A和C;又"好好照顾"的英语表达为:take good care of,排除D。
prevent sb. from doing sth. 故选A。
should应该,情态动词,其被动语态结构是should be allowed。
I don't think aliens in space可知:这是否定前移,说明后半句用肯定,find找到,动词,根据aliens与find可知构成被动关系,can情态动词,即含有情态动词的被动语态,结构为can+be+过去分词,find的过去分词为found,故选B。
11-20.C、C、B、C、B、C、A、C、C、B

Follow and Grow
A country has its laws and a family has its rules, too. My family also has some rules.
My parents don't allow me to play computer games in my free time. I am not allowed to stay up late because they think teenagers should have enough sleep to keep healthy. I can't go out on school nights because they worry about my safety.
Sometimes I think the family rules are too strict. But I know they are good for me. I communicate with my parents as much as possible, sharing my happiness and sadness with them. And I often help them with housework.
All in all, I love my family rules which make me grow.
