教学目标:
1. 知识目标:
(1)Master the new words and phrases:pale, king, queen, examine, prime minister, palace, power, banker, wealth, fame, call in, neither…nor
(2)Master the sentences:
He slept badly and didn’t feel like eating.
His face was always pale as chalk.
Neither medicine nor rest can help him.
I’m always worried about losing my power.
Money and fame don’t always make people happy.
2. 能力目标:
(1)Students can understand the story and get some information by reading the story.
(2)Students can role-play the story in English with their groups.
3. 情感目标:Students will be able to establish a reasonable concept of happiness and know what the true happiness is.
教学重难点:
Master the new words and phrases.
Students can understand the story and get information by reading the story.
Role-play the story and figure out the definition of happiness
教学过程:
Step 1. Review
1. Words and phrases.
2. Free talk
A: What makes you ...
B: ... makes me ...
Purpose:复习旧知,以旧引新,多媒体呈现表情的图片,利用happy的表情让学生初步思考What makes you happy 为新课内容做铺垫。
Step 2. Lead-in and show the learning aims.
1. The teacher asks some questions.
“Are you happy today ”
2. Listen to music “If you are happy!”.
T: A long time ago, there was a king. He had everything, but he was not happy... Do you want to know story OK, today we are going to learn Section A 3a. Read the language goal.
Purpose:由歌曲导入故事,激发学生的兴趣,为本课的学习故事做铺垫。
Step 3. New words.
1. Show some pictures to learn the new words.
T: Look at the picture, who is he
Ss: …
T: Read it after me, king-king…
T: What does he have Look at this picture, she is the king’s wife. Who is she
Ss: …
T: queen-queen…
....
2. Check the new words according the pictures.
设计意图:以学生感兴趣的图片,运用启发式教学方法引出本课的单词,吸引学生的学习注意力,调动学生的学习积极性,在师生、生生互相交流的基础上,培养学生的语言交际能力。
Step 4 Listening and answer the questions.
1. Listen to the tape and pay attention to the intonation and pronunciation.
2. Answer the questions.
(1)Is the king happy
(2)What characters are there in the story
设计意图:听录音,整体感知故事,让学生注意语音语调;回答简单问题了解故事中的人物。
Step 5. Reading
1. Extensive reading.
Ask the students to read the story for the first time. And the students answer the questions.
(1) Can medicine help the king Why or why not
(2) Why does power not make the prime minister happy
(3) Why does money not make the banker happy
(4) Why does fame not make the singer happy
设计意图:通过第一遍阅读即泛读,了解故事大意,获取信息,提高阅读能力以及阅读速度。
2. Intensive reading.
Ask the students to read the story for the second time for more details. Fill in the blanks.
设计意图:第二遍阅读即精读,此环节可以分段阅读,可以帮助学生更深层次理解故事情节,获取细节信息,提高阅读水平。
3. Scanning.
Ask the students to finish 3b.
设计意图:第三遍阅读即查读,学生掌握阅读策略:在阅读中可以通过上下文信息来了解词义。
Step 6. Language points. (Discussion)
Ask students analyze the story in groups. In the meanwhile analyze the language points with their group members.
设计意图:通过小组合作,学生找出知识点,互相学习,合作探究,及时掌握所学知识。
Step 7. Retell the story.
1. Retell each paragraph of the story according to the phrases on the screen.
2. Ask some students to retell the whole story.
设计意图:让学生掌握叙述性文章的线索,综合讲述文章中的故事。先分段复述,再总述,由简到难。
Step 8. Role-play the story.
1. Ask students to role-play the story in groups.
2. Get some groups role-play the story.
设计意图:通过生生之间的交流与互动,角色扮演表演课本剧的任务可以帮助学生更好地理解和体会文章内容,也能充分激发学生的学习兴趣和动机。既巩固了本课所学的语言知识,又开拓了学生的思维,使学生的思维跳出课本,从而真正达到新课程提出的培养学生综合运用语言的能力。
Step 9. Summary.
1. Ask students to sum up what they have learnt this class.
2. Ask them “What makes you happy ”. Tell them the true meaning of happiness.
3. Which group is the best
设计意图:及时反馈,及时总结,使学生养成好的学习习惯;与本节课开始时相呼应,同时进行情感教育,使学生树立合理的幸福观,健康快乐的成长。选出课堂表现最佳小组,并予以表扬,给学生动力。
