I remember meeting all of you in Grade 7.
(Section B 1a-1e Grade 9)
The teaching objectives:
At the end of this class, students will be able to
master the words and expressions: degree, manager, believe, graduation
and ceremony.
give students practice in writing about their future plans and use the target language to express their opinions.
know about the basic knowledge of the gradation speech in different countries.
learn how to make our dreams come true.
encourage students to be nice and thankful to the people around you.
The learning objectives:
Learning strategies
To encourage students to communicate with each other and work in groups.
Analysis of the students
The students in Grade 9 are about 16 years old. They are active, curious and eager to show off. They are not in the same level and they may know some knowledge about the topic, but they hardly use English to express opinions and communicate with others. From this, it’s quite important to provide students in different levels with a relaxing atmosphere to practice their oral English, starting from simple to difficult ones.
The key points and difficulties
Key points:
To summarize and grasp the expressions to describe the junior school lives and look ahead to the future.
Difficulties:
To use the target language to write a short graduation speech. Encourage students to give a speech to the whole classmates.
The teaching procedure
Part 1 Warming up and leading in
After sharing the past memories and experiences last class, we are going to look ahead of the future this class. Then play a piece of video lead to the topic: future jobs.
Show students the learning aims of this class.
Purpose:
Such a way to review the key points of SectionA, make clear the teaching aims and lead in the topic.
Part 2 Presentation
Step 1 Pre-listening
1). Brainstorming Words
Ask students to think about future jobs as many as possible.
And then answer the question: What do you hope to do in the future
2). Write about what you would like to do in the future. Expressions
get a business degree and become a manager

3). Pair work: Sentences
1b.Talk about what you hope to do in the future.
An example: (Students ask the teachers’ dream job)
S: What do you hope to do in the future
T: I hope to study harder and become a teacher.

Pair work:

B: I hope to and become a . What about you
A: I hope to ….
4). Discussion
What should you do now if you want to make your dream come true
Know what our skills and talents are.
Come up with a plan that will help us get that job.
Follow our plans and do not doubt ourselves.
Work hard and be confident.
Purpose:
To make clear the language points (words, expressions and sentences)to describe the future. Prepare for the listening part.
Step 2 While listening
1). 1c.① Listen to a class discussion. Check the hopes you hear.
Write down the job name according to the pictures.
Play the record and check the answers.
② Listen again and match the name of the student to their dreams.
2). 1d. Listen again and pay attention to the red words.
① Let Ss understand the passage and write down some words meaning.
② Play the tape. Check some of the answers but without making sure them all.
③ Play the tape again.
Ss listen to 1d carefully and pay attention to the underlined words above. Check the answers.
Purpose:
To train students’ ability of listening, prepare for the writing the speech.
Step 3 After listening
Free talk: After watching two pieces of video about
graduation speech, talk about the coming graduation
with students. Encourage students to be nice and
thankful to the people around us.
Group work (Choose Task1 or Task2: )
Students can finish the writing
with the help of the questions
or the fishbone on the blackboard:
Task1 Prepare a speech for your graduation. Use the questions to help you help you. Present your speech to your group.
How have you changed since you started junior high school
Who has helped you most
What advice have your parents given you
What will you do after you graduate
What are you looking forward to
Students change the composition with your partner and try to make corrections.
Task2 Fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the verbs in the brackets.
Some students can choose Task2, if they think Task1 is difficult for them.
Students change the speech with the partners and correct the mistakes together.
Sum up the activity.
Purpose:
Task1is for most students, Task2is for the students who have difficulties in Task1.It will help students indifferent levels enjoy the class.
Part 3 Summary
Summary
Make clear how to share the past memories and look ahead of the future.
Emotion aims: Know what our skills and talents are, follow the plans and
work hard. Remember that Choose wisely and be responsible for your decisions.
Part 4 Blackboard design
Bob is going to improve her English to teach kids English in the future
Ken is going to try to get into a music school and play in a band
Shirley would like to be an astronaut and go into space
Anna hopes to pass the exam to get into senior high school

4.学生通过观看国内外毕业演讲的视频和有关毕业典礼的图片,了解国内外关于毕业典礼的文化常识和中西方不同的文化差异。
