Since I became a mother, I cannot remember the last time I had quality time for myself. Even my simple hobby of reading a book was already a thing of the past. All my time was spent taking care of the family, doing house chores, and of course, working to earn a living. I longed for “me time”.
When I say “me time”, I only mean having an hour of quietness, listening to music, reading a book, or watching a movie, without being troubled by my kids.
It was not until quite recently that I had a chance to travel to a new country all by myself ! My husband and kids would have to follow at a later date.
Now, I am alone in an apartment. Finally, I can do whatever I want and keep the house clean and tidy. I can read my favorite books and do all that I want to do with my time. I practically have all the time for myself!
But surprisingly it doesn’t make me happy. I am lonely. No more daily routine of nagging(唠叨) and pushing the kids to get up. I miss my kids and my husband. I feel something in me is missing. Now I realize that making time for me doesn’t mean being away from those I love. I can still have “me time” even if I have the kids around and endless chores to do.
I can change my attitude toward chores and routines. Life won’t be the same without the people you love near you. Now I am looking forward to them joining me soon.

As more and more people are using the Internet both in their lives and in their work, it is best for us to know how to search for information online in a safe and smart way. Here are some tips to help you.
Several keywords will help to find better results.
Use more than one keyword when you are searching. If you want to find out about seagulls(海鸥), for example, search for ‘bird seagull’ and not just ‘seagull’ - because seagull might also be the name of just about anything else, from a hotel to a documentary film.
Remove unwanted results
You can do this by adding a minus symbol (-). For example, if you type in ‘seagull - hotel - film’, you won’t see things about hotels and films.
Check your spelling
Make sure that you spell every word in the search box correctly. The smallest typing mistakes can bring unwanted results, especially when the mistyped word exists(存在).
Have a filter(筛选程序)
It’s a good idea to filter your online searches because something online is not good for teenagers, especially when you are searching for pictures. Ask an adult to help you add a filtering system. There are lots of filtering software choices available.
Try different search engines(搜索引擎)
Keep trying until you find the one that’s best for you. Some search engines personalize the results, so check out the choice of using a search engine that doesn’t do this and you will get different results.
Reliability(可信度) is very important.
Always ask yourself, ‘Is this reliable Don’t make the mistake of believing everything you see. Some websites are unreliable and some information is false. Check your information on other websites before accepting it.

In this era of fierce competition, everyone is under great pressure. Whether you’re in school or in the workplace, excessive(过度的) stress can not only bring you down, but it can also affect your life a lot. Many things bring us worries and stress. What is the most stressful thing in school It is probably exams. Exams can put us under a lot of pressure. But some students do better under pressure, while others do not. So, why do some students perform better under stress
It all comes down to dopamine(多巴胺). Dopamine is a chemical in our body that sends signals(信号) in the brain. It has many important roles: affecting memory, attention and how we learn. Our brains work best when there is a balance of dopamine – not too much or too little.
Our brains control dopamine in two ways. It either takes out dopamine quickly or gradually(逐渐地). Exam success can be linked to how fast dopamine goes back to an even balance, according to new research from the University of Missouri, reported Yahoo.
What happens when we take an exam If you become stressed, your brain will start to overload on dopamine. It is like a cup overflowing with water. The quicker you are able to go back to an even balance of dopamine, the quicker you can concentrate, helping you perform better on a test.
Scientists found that, during a test, people who slowly got back to an even balance of dopamine scored 8 percent lower. That’s the difference between a good mark and a bad mark.
But don’t fear, there is good news for every student. The study also found that the more practice you get, the less stressed you’ll be. So, practice really does make perfect.

There are many important qualities that can help a person have achievements and happiness. But there is only one that leads to long-term success in all sides of life --- self-discipline(自律). According to a study, people with high self-control are happier because they are able to make correct decisions more easily. Self-discipline is a learned behavior. It requires lots of practice in your everyday life. To improve your own self-discipline, test out these methods for getting better control.
Remove temptations(消除诱惑). Removing all temptations from your environment is the first step when working to improve your self-discipline. For example, if you want to improve your studies, turn off your cell phone and remove the mess-ups from your desk. Eat on time and healthily. Studies have shown that low blood sugar often weakens a person’s willpower(意志力). In order to stay healthy, make sure that you eat well throughout the day with healthy snacks and meals.
Don’t wait for it to “feel right”. Improving your self-discipline means changing your habits, which can be uncomfortable. Breaking a bad habit and building a new habit require us to make active decisions. Keep doing and it will be better.
Make simple changes to your daily routine(常规). Improving self-discipline will allow you to live a freer life by helping you make healthy choices. Give it a shot. Your happiness will thank you for it.
