Throughout history, countless people have made valuable contributions to astronomy. Here is a list of some of them.
Nicolaus Copernicus
Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus did just one thing. Most scholars, however, think it was the greatest thing ever done in astronomy. Copernicus formulated what’s now called the heliocentric model-he moved Earth from the center of the universe and replaced it with the Sun. He didn’t publish his theory until he was on his deathbed in 1543.
Johannes Kepler
Indeed, German astronomer Johannes Kepler’s laws, especially the first, which states that planets move in ellipses(not circles)—set the stage for the law of universal gravitation. In addition to many years of hard orbital calculations, Kepler also observed a supernova(超新星), now called Kepler’s Nova, in 1604.
Tycho Brahe
Danish astronomer Tycho Ottesen Brahe was history’s greatest pre-telescopic observer. In fact, his careful observations of Mars enabled Kepler to develop his laws of planetary motion. Two of his famous observations were of the supernova that appeared in 1572(now called Tycho’s Nova)and the Great Comet of 1577.
Galileo Galilei
The first lens Galileo made is where optical(光学的)astronomy began. For that reason, Italian astronomer Galileo di Vincenzo Bonaiuti de Galilei ranks No.1 on this list. Although he didn’t invent the telescope, Galileo was the first to use it to study the sky: He observed sunspots, the phases of Venus, Saturn’s rings, and the four large moons of Jupiter.
21.Whose research laid the foundation for the law of universal gravitation
A.Nicolaus Copernicus. B.Tycho Brahe.
C.Johannes Kepler. D.Galileo Galilei.
22.What made Galileo the number one on the list
A.His observation of Mars. B.The significance of the lens he made.
C.The heliocentric theory he proposed. D.His observation of a supernova.
23.Where can the text be found
A.In an advertisement. B.In a novel.
C.In a biography. D.In a magazine.

The morning had been a disaster. My tooth was aching, and I’d been in an argument with a friend. Her words still hurt, “The trouble with you is that you won’t put yourself in my place. Can’t you see things from my point of view ” I shook my head stubbornly and felt the ache in my tooth. I’d thought I could hold out till my dentist came back from holiday, but the pain was really unbearable. I started calling the dentists in the phone book, but no one could see me immediately. Finally, at about lunch time, I got lucky.
“If you come by right now,” the receptionist said, “the dentist will fit you in.”
I took my purse and keys and rushed to my car. But suddenly I began to doubt about the dentist. What kind of dentist would be so eager to treat someone at such short notice Why wasn’t he as busy as the others
In the dentist’s office, I sat down and looked around. I saw nothing but the bare walls and I became even more worried. The assistant noticed my nervousness and placed her warm hand over my ice-cold one.
When I told her my fears, she laughed and said, “Don’t worry. The dentist is very good.”
“How long do I have to wait for him ” I asked impatiently.
“Come on, he is coming. Just lie down and relax. And enjoy the artwork,” the assistant said.
“The artwork ” I was puzzled.
The chair went back, suddenly I smiled. There was a beautiful picture, right where I could enjoy it on the ceiling. How considerate the dentist was! At that moment, I began to understand what my friend meant by her words.
What a relief!

What would you look like when you are 80 years old It seems too far away to imagine, but an app named FaceApp tries to show you.
The app creates transformations of users’ faces using various filters(滤镜)and features. The FaceApp aging challenge went viral last month. Even many celebrities like Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber shared their wrinkly, grey-haired selfies on social media.
FaceApp helps us stop thinking of things that don’t matter and focus on the present. “We view these images as inferred fiction, not realized and therefore unreal,” US author Nicci Gerrard told The New York Times. “We think of our younger selves, because in one sense that’s who we are. Our younger stories are all still part of us, while our older selves don’t yet exist.” However, not everyone can laugh at their older selves. For some, aging is terrifying and it’s hard to accept what the future holds in terms of looks and feelings. As MetroUK noted, “ FaceApp is making people into a painful crisis.”
In addition, FaceApp is facing a number of accusations regarding user privacy. When a user makes changes to a photo, it needs to be uploaded to the servers in Russia, where the company is located, then AI filters your image and sends it back to you. By using the app, you grant FaceApp the license to use, reproduce, change, adapt, and publish your image, as stated in its service agreement.
Despite the concerns over privacy, however, FaceApp does light up the Internet. It gives us the chance to take a look at our futures and perhaps let us consider how to prepare for it.
28. What can FaceApp do
A. Tell how old users are. B. Test users’ imagination.
C. Show users’ images in old age. D. Help users contact celebrities.
29. Which of the following can replace the underlined words in Paragraph 2

A. We should make full preparations for old age.
B. It’s a good idea for us to stop using FaceApp.
C. Our young stories deserve to be remembered.
D. It’s unnecessary now for us to consider old age.
31. What does Paragraph 4 mainly talk about
A.What punishment FaceApp is faced with.
B. How FaceApp gets users’ privacy involved.
C. How well FaceApp company serves users.
D. What FaceApp service agreement contains.

You probably take many steps to protect your computer from getting a virus, but what about your cell phone Cell phones are basically mini-computers, so, believe it or not, they too can get viruses.
“Viruses and malware(恶意软件)should not be a major concern to the average consumer who uses their device to make phone calls, take pictures, and download a few well-known apps from the major app marketplaces,” Tim Katsch Vice President of iDropped said. “If a user is downloading a lot of apps, changing and exploring settings within the device, and visiting a large number of websites from unknown sources, virus and malware protection should be kept on their mind.” If your phone gets a virus it can mess up your data, put random charges on your bill, and get private information such as your bank account number, credit card information, passwords, and your location.
The most common way that you could get a virus on your phone would be through downloading an infected app. Viruses can also get on your phone when you click on strange links or open up an email that contains a virus. Connecting to an unsecured wireless network in a public place is also a way for hackers(黑客)to get private information from your device.
If you’re still convinced that your phone might get a virus, there are anti-virus apps that you can download that will constantly scan your phone to make sure it hasn’t developed a virus, Apps like these will also check things before you download them to ensure that they are safe. Another tip is to always look over your cell phone bill every month to make sure there aren’t charges from apps that you never downloaded.
Technology is getting smarter, but so are hackers, and it’s important to always be cautious with anything you do on your phone. Many people store a lot of personal information on their phones, and while that might make life a little more convenient, it can also do a lot of damage if hacked.
32.What can we learn from Tim Katsch’s words
A.The wireless network in the public places is safe to use.
B.The average consumer needn’t worry much about a virus or malware.
C.Downloading a lot of apps will protect your phone from being hacked.
D.Viruses and malware will most probably attack average phones.
33.What’s the most common way that your phone gets a virus
A.Connecting to your mobile data.
B.Clicking on close friends’ links.
C.Downloading an infected app.
D.Changing your private information.
34.What does the last paragraph convey
A.Every coin has two sides.
B.Harm set, harm get.
C.Kill two birds with one stone.
D.Technology makes life smarter.
35.What may be the best title for the text
A.Anti-Virus Apps Make Your Cell Phone Safe
B.Viruses and Malware Damage Your Cell Phone
C.Ready to Fight Against the Hackers to Your Cell Phone
D.Worried About Your Cell Phone Catching a Virus
