黄石国家公园(Yellowstone National Park)简称黄石公园。1872年3月1日它被正式命名为保护野生动物和自然资源的国家公园,于1978年被列入世界自然遗产名录。这是世界上第一个最大的国家公园。
黄石国家公园占地面积约为898 317公顷,主要位于美国怀俄明州,部分位于蒙大拿州和爱达荷州。黄石公园分五个区:西北的猛犸象温泉区,以石灰石台阶为主,故也称热台阶区;东北为罗斯福区,仍保留着老西部景观;中间为峡谷区,可观赏黄石大峡谷和瀑布;东南为黄石湖区,主要是湖光山色;西及西南为间歇喷泉区,遍布间歇泉、温泉、蒸气池、热水潭、泥地和喷气孔。园内设有历史古迹博物馆。
该公园是世界上最大的火山口之一,它拥有世界上面积最大的森林之一。有超过10,000个温泉和300多个间歇泉。拥有290多个瀑布。园内有黄石湖、黄石河、峡谷、瀑布及温泉等景观,是一个负有盛名的游览胜地。园内有很多种野生动物,包括7种有蹄类动物,2种熊和67种其他哺乳动物,322种鸟类,18种鱼类和跨境的灰狼。有超过1100种原生植物,200余种外来植物和超过400种喜温微生物 ( https: / / baike. / item / %E5%96%9C%E6%B8%A9%E5%BE%AE%E7%94%9F%E7%89%A9" \t "_blank )。
黄石国家公园被美国人自豪地称为“地球上最独一无二的神奇乐园”。园内交通方便,环山公路长达500多公里,将各景区的主要景点连在一起,徒步路径达1 500多公里。
