A zero-waste life is a lifestyle that hardly creates any rubbish. So, a zero-waste theme store is about 1 people with a number of everyday, practical and pleasant zero-waste products to help them start on a one-stop, zero-waste life journey.

Most of the products sold in the store can be reused, and a small number of 11 which are not recyclable can degrade(分解). The store 12 has secondhand books and audio-visual CD/DVDs.
For used toiletries (things like soap and toothpaste that are used for cleaning yourself) there is a company which accepts them, and the couple regularly mails their waste to it.
Yu says that those who were once not 13 in the zero-waste lifestyle have gradually changed because of curiosity. The zero-waste lifestyle, she adds, is for everyone.
"It's 14 us at our fingertips." Yu expects some of her friends to 15 her on the road to zero waste. As the saying goes, many hands make light work.

In 1882, builders began work on a large church in Barcelona, Spain. Today, more than 130 years later, it’s still not finished! But that doesn’t stop two million tourists visiting it every year.
The Sagrada Familia church, with its many all towers, is the most famous work of the architect Antoni Gaudi. Born in 1852, Gaudi grew up in Catalonia in the northeast of Spain. When he was a young man, he loved to ride or take long walks in the country. When he became an architect, he used this love of nature to create some very unusual buildings. Many of them look as if they have been shaped by wind or water, like rocks in the natural world.
Many of Gaudi’s buildings are brown or grey, like the earth. But he is also famous for his bright colors. He often used broken pieces of glass or tile to create beautiful mosaics. There are many examples of these in the Park Guell, a park he designed in Barcelona. There’s a long seat in the shape of a sea snake and a large lizard fountain. Gaudi also created two houses in the park that look like cakes! Barcelona has many examples of Gaudi’s strange and wonderful buildings, and many people visit the city just to see them.
When Gaudi died in 1926, only a quarter of the building work of Sagrada Familia was complete. At that time, there was little money to continue building. Then Spain went to war. Work began again in the 1950s. But the unique and complicated design of the building has made the work slow and expensive. In 2013, it was still half-finished. Many people hope that it will be completed in 2026, a hundred years after Antoni Gaudi’s death. But there’s still a very long way to go.

A.It took builders over 130 years to complete it.
B.It is one of the most well-known works by Antoni Gaudi.
C.The work is slow and dear because of its special design.
D.The church is sure to be finished in the year of 2026.
( )3.Which words best describe Antoni Gaudi
A.Wise and humorous. B.Talented and creative.
C.Skillful and kind-hearted. D.Confident and famous.
( )4.What is the best title of the passage
A.Antoni Gaudi, a great architect. B.Barcelona, a wonderful city to visit.
C.The Sagrada Familia church. D.Wonderful buildings by Antoni Gaudi.

Modern cities seem to just get bigger and bigger. People have to drive or take long subway rides to work, exercise or have fun. The COVID-19 pandemic (疫情) has made many people rethink what our cities should be like.
Recently, a group of architects (建筑师) from South Korea have planned a “10-minute city” in Seoul. They will design (设计) a city with many functional (功能性的) areas, including living areas, study rooms, offices and entertainment areas (娱乐区).With only a 10-minute walk, people can reach all these places.
The idea of such a city is not new. In 2016, French-Colombian researcher Carlos Moreno put forward the “15-minute city” idea. Moreno noticed that cities are still driven by petrol-powered transport (使用汽油的交通工具). People spend too much time getting around. He said his 15-minute city would change our relationship with time and offer “quality of life within short distances”.
The COVID-19 pandemic has seen growing interest in the idea because many people were forced to spend most of their time at home, with less chance to go outside of their communities. But within their communities, they can’t always get what they need.
“If our way of life is no longer making sense, perhaps it’s time to consider alternatives (替代选择),” French professor Roxana Bobulescu told the website Business Because. Fifteen-minute cities may be one alternative.
But not everyone agrees with the idea. Some people worry that such cities will further gather wealth (财富) in the most convenient (方便的) areas, resulting in high house prices. What do you think
( ) 5. What does “10-minute city” mean
A. People in the city can meet each other within a 10-minute walk.
B. People in Seoul can reach anywhere by subway in 10 minutes.
C. People can travel across a city within 10 minutes.
D. People can find what they need within a 10-minute walk.
( ) 6. According to the text, what might Carlos Moreno agree with
A. People need to use more petrol-powered transport.
B. People living in cities should develop good relationships with others.
C. People should have a more convenient city life.
D. People should spend more time on traveling.
( ) 7.Which of the following can replace “making sense” in Paragraph 5
A. successful B. practical C. classical D. cheerful
( ) 8.Why don’t some people support 10-minute cities
A. Because they don’t want to gather in a certain area.
B. Because they enjoy traveling and walking around.
C. Because they think houses there will be more expensive.
D. Because they are afraid that their houses will be worth less money.

My name is Michael and I live in Canada. There is a pond near my house. During the winter, it freezes, and I can play hocky on it with my friends. In Canada, many people like hockey. There is also a new shopping center in my neighborhood. It's only three blocks from my house. It has a coffee shop, a grocery store, a bank and a movie theater. I really like the coffee shop. I like to go there on weekends, but I have to do some housework first. Then I ride my bike to the coffee shop. It's quiet there, and the chairs are very comfortable. Sometimes I sit for the whole afternoon and do my homework. Other times I just chat with my friends. The coffee shop has lots of different drinks. I usually have hot chocolate, but it's a little expensive.
