I have had thousands of classes since I started school nine years ago. But only one class was the most important.
It happened last term after I had got a bad result in an exam. I was sad and had lost my confidence. I decided to go to a class which can tell me how to be successful.
The speaker walked into the room. But he did not start talking like a teacher. Instead, he held up a 20 yuan note!
“Who wants this ” he asked. Unsurprisingly, everyone in the class held up their hands.
The speaker smiled. Then he stuck the note on the blackboard and asked the same question. Again, we all put up our hands. The teacher smiled again but did not say anything. Suddenly, he threw the note onto the floor! Then he asked the same question a third time.
I didn’t understand what the speaker was doing. Why was he asking the same question again and again I wanted the note, so I put my hand up again. Suddenly, the speaker started to laugh. Then he picked up the note. “You have all just told me how to become successful,” he said.

It happens all the time-you are standing on a bus, listening to music, when you feel someone’s breath on the back of your neck. You think to yourself: Is this person getting too close to me The answer is yes. Everyone has a sense of personal space. 1. __________
According to a new study, the size of the space is different for different people, but generally it is between 20 to 40 centimeters in front of the face. In the study, researchers from University College London asked volunteers to hold their hands at different distances from their faces. They then gave them an electric shock (电击) on their hands while measuring how often the volunteers blinked (眨眼). 2. __________
The results among the volunteers were a little different, but the average personal space was 20 to 40 centimeters. Researches also found that the more anxious a person was, the larger their personal space was because they were more sensitive (敏感的).
