Have you ever been in a position where you were expected and required to take music lessons even though you had no interest
The situation was this: my father was a music teacher. My mother was a piano player and, in fact, the whole family was very musical. I was the only one who didn't know how to play a musical instrument (乐器).
And, as a lot of families do, I was required to take piano lessons even though I had no interest in learning how to play it. So, it started. Lesson after lesson I suffered. Finally, I just quit practicing and my piano teacher told my parents that I was hopeless. Great — no more piano lessons.
But my parents still thought that I should learn a musical instrument. In their opinion, having no interest in playing the piano didn't mean that I had no interest in other instruments. So they chose some other instruments for me, but the_same_things_ happened. It seemed that I was a bit headstrong (任性的) but, at the same time, I knew what I wasn't interested in.
The musical story didn't end here. It went on to where I decided what I wanted to learn — to play the drums (鼓). I loved playing the drums and played in several bands.
The point is this: if you are not ready to do something, you won't do it no matter how much someone else wants you to do it. Or, at the very least, you will certainly not put your heart and soul into it and will surely fail.
Think now what you really love doing and get down to it.
8.For the author, the piano lessons were probably ________.
A.interesting B.necessary
C.difficult D.boring
9.What does the underlined part “the same things” refer to
A.The author refused to learn the instruments his parents chose for him.
B.The author's parents thought it important to play an instrument.
C.The author's parents knew nothing about the author.
D.The author had to learn other musical instruments.
10.In the author's opinion, if you are forced to do what you don't like, ________.
A.you still need to put your heart and soul into it
B.you'll like it as long as you make an effort
C.you'll know what you really want
D.it's very unlikely that you will do it well
11.What can be used as the best title of the passage
A.Enjoy your life
B.How to know yourself
C.My musical story
D.Interest is the best teacher

Writing journals has been one of the most helpful things I've ever done. Through writing journals I've not only learned a lot about myself, but also removed a lot of obsessive (烦恼的) thoughts by writing them down and considering them.
Journals give you a place to write down your honest thoughts without being afraid of what people will think of you. There are some ideas for writing journals:

Write poetry or short stories
Goals: daily and long term
Respond to a magazine article that you are interested in
Write about obsessive thoughts and try to find what's causing them
A list of things you are proud of (It can always increase your confidence 〈自信〉 when you need it)

The best way to start is to decide where you want to write your journal (Though it's called the journal, it doesn't mean you can only do it in a “journal”). If you like the traditional style of journals, then use a notebook, blank paper or graph paper, whichever you like best. If you prefer to go digital (数码的), start a blog. You can make the blog public or private, and it's a good way to keep track of articles or pictures you find online.(You can link to them.)
Even if you feel there's nothing for you to write about at first, you might be surprised to find that once you start, you can't stop.
12.What does writing journals help the author do
A.Make many friends.
B.Do many helpful things.
C.Be free from some worries.
D.Learn a lot about other people.
13.Why is making a pro/con list useful
A.It increases your confidence.
B.It helps you get what you want.
C.It helps you make great progress.
D.It helps you decide what to do.
14.What can we learn from the passage
A.Most people like using notebooks.
B.Starting a blog is very popular now.
C.Journals can only be written for yourself.
D.It's more convenient to use a blog to write journals.
15.What do you think about writing journals as a beginner
A.You have little to write.
B.Writing journals is fun.
C.You're good at writing.

41.But but表示转折关系,符合语境。

44.later later表示“后来;随后”。
45.working “working in hot, crowded and unsafe factories”是现在分词短语作后置定语,修饰children。

Good morning, boys and girls,
We high school students do have some growing pains, but we can get rid of them correctly and wisely.
 That's all. Thank you.
参考范文:
Good morning, boys and girls,
We high school students do have some growing pains, but we can get rid of them correctly and wisely.
First, some of us are upset about our figure and looks. It's unnecessary. We needn't care about it. It is one's inner beauty that matters. Second, we sometimes seem to be misunderstood by our teachers, parents and classmates. Facing this, we can find proper time to have a heart to heart talk with them, trying to remove the misunderstanding. Some of us have few friends. I think being open minded and friendly will help. Third, we may fall behind others, which makes us stressed. Actually we can encourage ourselves to work efficiently with determination. Last, some of us don't have much pocket money, so we feel unhappy. Isn't it strange As long as we have some, that's enough.
That's all. Thank you.
