The Qingming
Tomb Sweeping Day
It is not only a festival for people to pay homage to and remember their ancestors, but also a spring ceremony for hiking, getting close to nature and urging new life.
It has a history of more than 2,500 years. In ancient times, it was also called March day, ancestor worship day, tree planting day, ghost day, etc.

It is also known as China's three famous "Ghost Festivals" together with the Zhongyuan Festival on July 15 and the Hanyi Festival on the first day of October. Qingming is also one of the 24 solar terms.

Qingming Festival is between mid spring and late spring. As soon as the Tomb Sweeping Day comes, the temperature rises, which is a good time for spring farming and spring planting. Therefore, it is said that "before and after the Tomb Sweeping Day, plant melons and beans".“清明前后，种瓜点豆”
It is said that after Dayu's flood control, people used "Qingming" to celebrate the elimination of flood. At this time, flowers bloom, everything recovers, the sky is clear and the earth is bright. It is a good time for spring outing. Outing began as early as the Tang Dynasty, and it has become a habit in successive dynasties.
