Of all the books that I have read, I like The Adventures of Tintin best. The hero of the story is Tintin. He is a brave reporter. He has a good friend, a little dog. During their travels, they experience many adventures. As a reporter, Tintin doesn’t write down what people told him, but tries to find out the truth himself. He isn’t afraid of anybody or anything. So he becomes the symbol of peace and justice and he is loved by people all over the world. His works still make senses to people today.

Good morning, everyone! Today is the World Book and Copyright Day. It started in 1995.
In order to encourage more people to read more books, all kinds of activities are held on April 23rd. Till now many famous books are popular, such as Confucius’ works by Confucius are still read by many people. I spend most of my free time reading famous books which affect me greatly. I often share my happiness of reading books with my family and friends. Of all the books, I like The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain best. It tells how young people grow, how people love each other and how bad people pay for their actions.

Films or novels
Recently, more and more novels are made into films. Some students think it’s better to watch films. They say watching films is more relaxing and it takes less time to understand the whole story. However, others prefer to read novels rather than watch films. They believe that reading makes a full man. And the language in novels is more lively and beautiful.
As for me, I prefer to read novels because I can know more details of the story. Besides, reading novels is a good way for me to increase my vocabulary.

My dear friends,
Reading is very important. We can get knowledge through reading. It can make us happy and open up a whole new world to us. However, some students spend much time in listening to music, watching TV or playing computer games online. It takes much of their spare time .What a pity!
So, I would like to advise everyone to read books. We can ask our teachers and parents for some advice about reading. Some books can be borrowed from the school library by us. Some books are bought from bookshops. We’d better read the four great classical Chinese novels. Before reading, we should read some reviews about the book. After reading, we can discuss it with our classmates, then write a book report—what the book is about, what you think of it and so on.
Let reading become part of our life.

My Favourite Great Book
My favourite great book is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. Tom Sawyer is a lively and clever boy. He lives with his aunt Polly. His aunt is strict with him, so he runs to an island in the middle of the Mississippi River with two friends, Huck and Joe. With Huck, he goes looking for treasure; with Becky, he gets lost in a cave. And finally Tom and Huck find a box of gold. Tom is the hero of the story, but there are other important characters. Becky is pretty with fair hair. Huck is Tom’s best friend, and Injun Joe is the bad man of the story. The theme of the story is to do with children growing up and becoming more serious.
