Dear Jordon, I don’t know how to chat with my classmates because we do not share the same interests. We don’t have anything to talk about. I am very lonely. What should I do Dear Jenny, To make friends, you must first be friendly. Everyone likes a friendly girl with a smile. You can give your classmates a compliment(称赞). Say something nice about their dressing styles or skills. Second, ask a question to start chatting. Find out what interests them and talk about that, even if it doesn’t interest you a lot. Ask your classmatesquestions and let them be the experts. The conversation is more important than the topic. Finally, talk to more people. Say hello to the people you meet. Sit with different groups of people in the dining hall. If one person doesn’t want to talk with you, find someone else to chat with. Don’t just think about being lonely. Do something about it! Smile and say hello, even to the people who aren’t your friends. Doing things differently will help produce different results. Jordon

It’s easier to agree than disagree. The following tips can help keep disagreements constructive(建设性的).
·Don’t make it personal.
When you get upset, it can help if you know that you’re mad at the person’s idea, not the person.
·Never criticize the other person’s idea.
Instead of saying “That’s a stupid idea!”, try to say “I don’t agree, and here’s why.” Never shout loudly, and you’ll have a much better chance of getting your idea across.
·Use “I” statements to communicate how you feel and what you think.
Using “you” statements can sound argumen-tative(好争论的). For example, telling your mum “You always remind me about my chores when I have a lot of homework.” has a very different tone(语气) from “I’m under pressure because I have a lot of homework tonight. Can I do those chores tomorrow?”
·Listen to the other person’s point of view.
When the other person is talking, try to stop thinking about why you disagree or what you’ll say next. Instead, focus on what’s being said. When it’s your turn to talk, repeat some key points the other person made to show you have paid attention to what he said. Then, express why you disagree calmly.
·Stay calm.
This is the most important thing that you can do to keep a conversation going on well.
These five tips can be very helpful. Try discussing them with your friends and practice them in your daily lives. You may find that they will make people feel better. And you may even have more tips to help people solve disputes.
