本单元是人教版八年级上册第四单元的教学内容。主要话题是学习比较级的运用,这个话题对于学生的想象力和改进学生的学习能力是有很多帮助的。本单元以选择电影院的话题为引导,讨论城镇内配套设施的比较,熟练使用句型:It has the best screens.You can buy tickets the most quickly there. 同时以同学熟悉感兴趣的时尚节目中国达人秀为话题,用最高级谈论最有才艺的人,熟练使用句型:He is the most talented singer 等,话题内容可以拓展至中国最佳城市的话题,拓展学生的思路。本节是一节听说课。以电影院为话题呈现描述电影院特点、品质的词汇,问题 How do you choose which movie theater to go to 引导学生对电影院场所、硬件设施等条件进行分析比较,单元语法重点项目形容词和副词的比较级也在语境中自然呈现。
学情分析
学校和家庭不鼓励学生外出看电影,并且随着网络的普及越来越多的人选择从网络上观看影片,因此会有很多学生对于本地区的电影院并不是很了解。因此,为了推动话题的顺利进行,教师需要事先准备好本地区电影院的第一手资料,让学生有了真是比较之后再进行语言的输出。

教学过程设计
Step 1.Warm up
Greet the class and introduce what to learn in this period.
Step 2.Presentation
Introduce and new words learning
First, tell students we’re going to learn how to discuss preferences and make comparison in this unit and learn to describe things using the superlatives with -est, most.
Then show the new words and expressions on the screen,lead students to read them.
Later, show the new cards, invite some students to read them, correct pronunciation mistakes if any.
Teach Activity 1a
Read the instructions.Then read each item to the class. Ask the students to explain what the words or phrases mean in their own words.For example, for comfortable seats, a student might say, ”Comfortable seats feel good. You can sit in a comfortable seat for three hours and feel good”.
Ask students to describe which of the things are important and which are not important .Point to the two columns and ask students to write their answers there. Find out which items students think are the most important. Ask different students to write each words or phrase on the blackboard. Then read each item to the class and say, ”Raise your hand if you give this a number 1 or number 2.” Write the number of students who raise their hand after each. In the end, help students say which are the most important to students in the class.
3. Teach Activity 1b.
This activity gives students practice in understanding the target language by spoken conversation.
. Read the instruction
Point out the phrases under the word qualities and ask different students to read the phrases to the class. Explain the meaning of any phrases students don;t understand.
Point to the list of movie theaters in the instructions. Ask students what they are doing.(They are talking about these three movie theaters.)
Point to the blank lines under the Movie theaters. Ask students to write the names of different movie theater there.
. Play the recording a second time .Have students write the names of each movie theater on the blank line after its description. Then correct the answers.
Teach Activity 1c.
. Read the instruction.Point out the sample conversation in the box. Ask two students to read it to the class.
Lead students to make a list of real movie theaters they know. If there aren’t three or more movie theaters for the students to talk about, use three stores or three restaurants. Say, now work with a partner. Start by reading the conversation in the box with your partner.Then look at the other places on the blackboard and make conversations about these places. As they talk, move around the room checking their work. Offer language support as needed.
Ask several pairs of students to present their conversations to the class.
Step 3. Practice
Teach Activity 2a.
This activity provides listening practice using the target language.
. Read the instructions and point to the two questions on the survey. Read the names of the stores and radio stations or ask different students to do it.
Say, There is a reporter talking with a teenage boy.She is asking him some questions. Listen to the recording and circle the boy’s answers.
Play the recording twice.Students just listen at the first time.
Ask students to circle the letters of the correct answers at the second time.
Then check the answers.
Teach Activity 2c
This activity provide guided oral practice using the target language.
Point to the sample conversation.Ask two students to read it to the class.
Then focus on some language points and explain them.
. Can I ask you some questions Can I --- ?此句型常用来向别人询问问,征求许可。也可以用Could I--- /May I ---?来替换。应答时用Yes,sure. / Certainly. /OK. 如:Can I come 一般情况下,表示“一些”时,在肯定句中用some, 而不用any. 如:Can I have some water, please
. I think Miller’s is the best. 此句为复合句,其中的I think, think为及物动词,其后常加一个句子,该句叫做宾语从句。 I think后的这个句子可以用任何时态。如: I think Tom was at office yesterday.. I think he is going to visit us. 当主句的主语是第一人称时, I think --- 宾语从句的否定句not需前移。如:I don’t think you’re right. 而不能说成I think you aren’t right.
Why do you think so so在此句为代词,代替上文出现的名词或句子,意为“这样,如此这样”如:Why do you think so Do you think he will come No, I don’t think so.
Read the instructions,each pairs of students role play the conversation between the reporter and the boy. Ask students to say some of the questions the reporter asked the boy.If students need more help asking the questions,write the questions on the board.For example.What’s the best clothing store in town What do you think about the other stores What’s the best movie theater What’ about the radio station
Ask students to work in pairs.Move around checking the progress and offering help as needed.
Ask one or two pairs to show their conversations to the class.
Step 4: Consolidation
Teach Activity 2d
First give students several minutes to read the conversation and get the main idea of it.
After that, invite some students to answer questions.
T: What are they talking about
S1: Greg is new in town.Helen is introducing the town for her.
T:How does Greg like the town
S2: He think it fantastic, but he still doesn’t know the way around.
T: Where is the best supermarket
S3: It’s on Center Street.
T: What can he buy there
S4: He can buy the freshest food there .
T: Which is the newest cinema
S5: It’s Sun Cinema.
T: Why
S6: Because students to read the conversation sentence by sentence.Call attention to the pronunciation and tone.
Ask students to practice reading this conversation after class,and try to make a new conversation about their neighborhood.
Step 5 Summary
In this class, we learned some new words and expressions first, then we learned how to talk about our neighborhood using superlative degree of adjectives.Through the listening and speaking practice,we consolidated the target language.
Step 6: Homework
Learn the new words and target language by heart.
Do some exercises for consolidation.
Preview the nest period.

在本课的教学中,为了使学生能够掌握重难点,开展了互相合作、共同讨论,并在讨论中碰出思维的火花,我采用了以小组活动为主的形式,真正面向全体学生,通过对身边事情的讨论,引发学生的讨论,有效地调动了学生积极思考的热情。通过师生共同讨论,创设了民主和谐的课堂气氛,师生之间交流的有效信息量增加了,学习的效果也提高了。
