本单元主要以sports这个主题展开的，让学生学习有关运动的单词，并且在实际中运用。本课时主要提高学生阅读能力，体会球王贝利的精神，感悟有志者事竟成的道理。培养学生合作意识，和自主学习的能力。
学情分析
这学期即将进入六年级的第二学期，学生负担越来越重，即将面对小升初压力，所以这学期调动学生的积极性尤为重要。所以这学期尽可能多的进行学生奖励机制及夸赞增强学生的自信心。同时课堂多以创情境的教学方法。
教学目标及教学重点、难点
知识目标：1、能认读、掌握、灵活运用单词: something, ago, around, as, bottle, Christmas, cup, world, would, dig, famous。 2、理解并会朗读短文。 能力目标：能在图片和关键词的提示下讲述故事。 过程与方法目标：正确理解课文，能用语言表达过去已发生的事情。 情感态度与价值观目标：学生敢于开口，体会球王贝利的精神，感悟有志者事竟成的道理。
教学重点：掌握单词，熟读课文，理解并运用一般过去时。 教学难点：能用语言表达过去已发生的事情。
