We rushed him to the emergency and casualty ward(临时病室).The doctor on duty informed us that Mr. Lim had suffered a mild stroke. Mr. Lim was admitted to the intensive care unit(ICU）. Mrs. Lim and I looked after him all night long. It was then that Mrs. Lim asked me to contact her son and convey the news. I never knew that Mr. and Mrs. Lim had children. I could not recall a time when they ever mentioned a son. I tried to contact the son at the given address, but I was told that he had moved to another town with his wife and children. The next day, Isabel and Peter went into the building of the City Hall but were met with an impatient officer. They were informed that the city couldn’t help with their problem due to a tight budget. Discouraged, they left and turned to Mrs. Evans for help.
Under her guidance, they decided to ask Go Green, a non-profit organization whose goal is to protect the environment, for help. “This group is good at raising money for projects just like yours, ” said Mrs. Evans. She promised to arrange them to present their ideas to Go Green. Hearing this, their face lit up.
Two main tasks remained ahead: researching ways to clean up the park and preparing a convincing presentation. As Isabel was good at researching while Peter always had a talent for speaking, they cooperated quite well. Isabel learned from a science magazine that a new type of trash bin can squeeze the trash down without being emptied often, which saves time, money, and energy. Based on this, Peter practiced his presentation over and over again.

She repeated the motion. “Thank you,” Mom said, smiling. “Nice to meet you.” Ms. Jennings looked surprised. “You speak very well,” she said. In sign language, I repeated what Ms. Jennings had said in case my parents hadn’t read her lips.
“Was it difficult teaching Amy to talk ” Ms. Jennings asked. “Not really,” Dad said in sign language, and I translated so Ms. Jennings understood. “She went to daycare with other hearing kids.”
Some of my classmates were watching us and whispering. Then I noticed Evelyn and her mom standing by the door. “Hi, Amy,” Evelyn waved to me and approached us. “I didn’t know your parents are deaf.”

And when I asked them to return to their seats, he slammed (用力摔) his backpack and grew mad as I tried to urge him to take the right attitude. “I don’t like you, homework and this afterschool program! All you guys do is yell at me. I’m never coming back.” he walked out of the classroom, slamming the door.
Naturally, I was so frustrated (挫败的). I wondered why I am here. Most kids disrespected me! I paused to take a deep breath. “We have to go shopping!" I called out to my husband and son. They were surprised but still we set off. We went to a few department stores and the shoe departments, without success. We were tired and hungry. We were becoming disheartened. My son suggested giving Leanne a gift card so she could get the boots herself. But I didn't want to give up. I promised we would bring boots.
