Most parents hope that their children can be happy and successful. But do you know the most powerful (有力的) way to encourage them to be so The answer is to allow them to make their own decisions.
Unfortunately(不幸地), popular culture has different ideas about children’s decision making. Most parents make decisions for their children—what they wear, what they eat and what movies they watch. In fact, it is not good for children’s growing.
Children should be allowed to make decisions when they are very young. But this doesn’t mean they are allowed to do everything. For example, you shouldn’t take your children into a store and tell them they can have anything they want. They would be overwhelmed (不知所措的) by the choices. But you can give them a choice among snacks. When children get older, expand the number of choices you give them. For example, allow them to decide the activities they want to take part in or when they go to bed.
The next step is to get your children to think before they act. Let them ask themselves several important questions. First, why do I want to do this Second, what are my choices Third, what are the results of the actions After the three questions, they are sure to have right decisions.

Some teenagers can have a good time during their vacations, but some of them have part-time jobs because they want to increase their pocket money. And most of their parents allow them to do so.
In my opinion, this is not a bad thing. But I think teenagers should not have part-time jobs until they are sixteen years old. Parents should not allow their children to work under this age and no one is willing to hire (雇佣) a child under that age.
A job is necessary in life. But before we learn to make money, we should first get a good education and we must get the education from the school and our families until a certain age. We cannot teach ourselves if we are only eight or nine years old. Besides, we should also learn how to spend money wisely. We cannot have a kind of “measure” of spending money if we don’t make it.
On the other hand, having a part-time job makes us get in touch with different people. We will learn how to be more patient with others and with life itself.
( )37.Why do some teenagers get part-time jobs during their vacations
to spend their vacations meaningfully B. to pay for their next year’s education
C. to make more pocket money for themselves. D. to help their parents make some money.
( )38.In the writer’s opinion, what should we do first before we learn to make money
find a good job B. get a good education
C. know how to make money D. know how to save money
( )39.What does the underlined word “measure” probably mean
A. standard B. activity C. ability D. weight
( )40. What’s the main idea of the last paragraph
Having a part-time job can make us feel bored in our studies.
Having a part-time job can greatly help our parents.
Having a part-time job can make our lives better.
D. Having a part-time job can increase our life experience.

Should teenagers be allowed to live in schools
Recently I have had a survey in my class about whether teenagers should be allowed to live in schools. Here are the results: Most classmates think teenagers should be allowed to live in schools because it’s convenient to communicate more with the classmates. Also, they can learn how to look after themselves in this way.
However, some other classmates don’t agree to allow teenagers to live in schools. They think teenagers are too young to be independent. So teenagers can only relax themselves better at home. Besides, they can spend more time with their family members.
In my opinion, teenagers should be allowed to live in schools. That’s because teenagers can spend more time on study and sports. What’s more, it’s a wonderful experience for them to live with other classmates.
