I’m a procrastinator (有拖延症的人). In college, I was supposed to spend a year writing my 90-page senior paper. I didn’t write a word until three days before the deadline (截止日期). Finally, I wrote 90 pages over 72 hours, staying up two nights in a row to finish it on time. Of course, it was a very bad paper.
I have a theory (理论) that the brains of procrastinators are different from those of other people. Both kinds of people are able to make smart decisions. But the procrastinator’s brain also has a part that doesn’t like making the “right” decision. It only wants whatever is easiest and most fun.
For the procrastinator, this part of the brain makes all the decisions. So how can people like me work when we really need to It turns out that procrastinators also have a part of their brain that makes them panic. This part isn’t active all the time. But it suddenly “wakes up” when deadlines are close. It’s the only thing that can make us take action.
The problem is that there are many things in our lives that don’t come with deadlines. We know that we should spend more time exercising or seeing our family. But these things don’t have deadlines. So how can we work on them
One thing you can try is making a “life calendar”. Set a goal for yourself, such as exercising 20 minutes each day for a week. Take a regular calendar and put a big red “×” on each day that you exercise. After a week, you’ll see a neat (整齐的) row of “×”. This will help you feel more confident about working toward your goals.
26. Why does the speaker mention his college experience first
A. To give an example of procrastination (拖延症).
B. To show that we all have limitless talent.
C. To explain that procrastination is quite common.
D. To prove that procrastinators are able to finish their tasks.
27. In the speaker’s theory, what makes procrastinators different from others
A. They are able to make good decisions. B. They only want to do easy and fun tasks.
C. They stay calm when deadlines come. D. They don’t sleep as much as other people.
28. The writer’s theory doesn’t always work because ________.
A. not everything in life has a deadline B. it is hard to finish big tasks quickly
C. some people change their goals often D. some people have many tasks to finish
29. What does the underlined word mean in paragraph 3
A. feel relaxed B. feel glad C. feel afraid D. feel easy
30. What is the speaker’s suggestion for procrastinators
A. Buy a calendar and use it often. B. Find creative ways to put things off.
C. Focus on the important things in life. D. Do more exercise.

Report One
People with sweet childhood memories, especially good relationships with parents will have less stress and fewer diseases after they grow up, according to a research in the magazine Health Paychology.
“We found that good memories seem to have a good effect on health. Perhaps they can reduce stress or help us keep healthy choices in life,” said the researchers of the study.
The researchers used more than 22,000 people in two studies. The first period followed adults in their mid 40s for 18 years and the second period followed adults 50 and over for 6 years.
In both groups, people who remembered higher levels of love from their mothers as children experienced better physical health later in life. Those who had memories with more support from their fathers also had less feelings of sadness.
Report Two
Keeping away from depression(低落的情绪) has become the main goal for many people nowadays, but hugging the depression may be more helpful, a new study reports.
Many people may experience the time when they are sad or feel they can’t enjoy anything. They hate being weak. So they hide their true feelings. But the report says this behavior can even make the depression worse. The more attention people pay on happiness, the more disappointed they might probably be.
Researchers call on the people to have a more friendly and patient attitude(态度) about the depression. Only in this way will people not be afraid of it. They will be more likely to work out the problem, and then take actions to deal with them.

But the report says this behavior can even make the depression worse. The more attention people pay on happiness, the more disappointed they might probably be.

Dear classmates,
Life is full of ups and downs. It is also like a book full of joy and sorrow, affecting our health and relationships. One Monday last year, my teacher asked me to answer questions in class, but I couldn’t answer them. After class, my classmate Wang Gang laughed at me. I was so angry that I wanted to fight with him. However, I just smiled at him because I thought I should control my emotion instead of breaking the school rules.
When we are angry, we can go to a quiet place to calm ourselves. Besides, we can also have a good talk with the person who makes us angry. As students, we should keep encouraging ourselves and face life with a smile.
