(2021·上海黄浦区·期中)There are more and more people who are cutting down the trees to get the woods and planting other trees that can be sold with much money. So the bare land (裸地) is washed away from flood and many places of forests are destroyed.
What can we do to protect our homeland and forests First, I think the government can publish some policies (政策) about protecting the forests and plant more different trees to keep ecology in balance (生态平衡). Secondly, as the masters (主人) of the country, we each play an important role in protecting homeland and forests. We shouldn't do anything harmful to the forests. We should also tell our family members, relatives and friends not to destroy forests. Of course, educating children is also a good way to hold the beauty of the homeland and forests.

(2020·上海奉贤区·期中) People always have different feelings. Among them is shyness. It means you feel frightened when you are around other people. Some children were born shy. Some become very shy later because of life experience. In fact, everyone gets a little shy sometimes. It depends on how shy you are. If shyness doesn't stop you from doing something you want to do, being shy isn't a big problem.
According to scientists, shyness generally begins during childhood. Most of time, shyness is caused by people's worry about what other people think of them, so shy people often find it very difficult to meet new people. This fear has bad effects (影响) on their work life, social life and love life. The following suggestions may be helpful for shy people.
Find ways to relax when you go out. When you are old enough, consider drinking a glass of wine before heading out for the night. Talk with your friends or family members to help yourself calm down.
Look best when you go out. Wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable. Listen carefully when people speak. Shy people sometimes think that meeting new people means having to do a lot of talking. You can ask simple questions and then listen to the answers. People love to feel like other people are listening to them and sharing their point of view.
Build your confidence and change your attitude (态度) towards meeting new people instead of worrying about how they will think of you, and think about what are good points you hope to find in the new person you will meet.

(2020·上海奉贤区·期中) FOMO posted 2 hours ago by Mr. Braddock, Sixth Grade teacher
Everybody knows how important it is for students to get a good night's sleep every night. You aren't able to do your best and keep up with all of your responsibilities unless you sleep well. I'm sure you already know that you should go to bed at a reasonable hour. Most experts agree that the ideal number of hours is eight, and this has been accepted as common sense for as long as I can remember. However, I was young once and I know that most of you get much less sleep than that—and in some cases it will be affecting your schoolwork.
I read an interesting article in a teachers' magazine recently. They did a study of 848 students in Wales. Worryingly, the results showed that teenagers are facing a new problem. They may go to bed and get up at appropriate times but a growing number are waking up in the middle of the night, not to use the bathroom or have a snack but because of a new phenomenon: FOMO—fear of missing out!
According to the article, schoolchildren are suffering because of a growing trend (趋势) to wake up during the night to check social media. Afraid of missing a reply or opportunity to take part in a chat, teenagers are waking at all times of the night, going online and getting involved. All this takes place when they should be sound asleep.
Experts are worried about this growing trend and the report shows some worrying statistics that I'd like to share with you:
23% of 12 to 15-year-olds wake up nearly every night to use social media. Another 15% wake up at night once a week for the same reason.
One in three students are tired all the time and unable to do the work to the best of their ability.
Students who use social media during the night are more likely to feel extremely sad and anxious.
So, I'd like to ask you to . The world won't end and your social media will be waiting to greet you in the morning! I give you my word that you won't have missed anything important.
(1) This article was posted by a teacher, wasn't it

(4) Why do schoolchildren check up their social media in the middle of the night

(5) What two possible conclusions can we draw from the statistics
Conclusion 1: (no more than 10 words)

(2020·上海奉贤区·期末)Allen's First Marathon (马拉松)
One of Allen's ankles was injured one month before his first time to compete in a marathon. This meant he could not run or train for two weeks. Yet, Allen made up his mind to go ahead.
Allen remembers back to his first year in the school. He was only seven at that time. In his first P.E. class, his teacher required them to run laps and then hit a ball. He didn't do either well. He was later told that he was "not athletic"—he had no talent in sports.
The idea that he was not athletic went with him for years. When he started running in his thirties, he realized running marathon was not about competition or whether he was physically strong and active. He thought that .
The night before his first marathon, he dreamed that he couldn't even find the finish line. He woke up sweating (冒汗) and nervous, but ready to prove something to himself.
Shortly after crossing the start line, his shoe laces (鞋带) became untied. So Allen stopped to tie them. Not the start he wanted!
At mile 3, Allen passed a sign: "GO FOR IT, RUNNERS!"
By mile 17, he became out of breath and the once injured ankle hurt badly. When he felt the pain. he tried to slow down and walked a bit and then ran again.
As Allen approached mile 25—near the finish line, he saw his wife waving a sign to encourage him. She is Allen's biggest fan. She never minded the alarm clock sounding at 5 a.m. or questioned his money on running.
Allen was one of the final runners to finish. But he finished! And he also got a medal. In fact, he got the same medal as the one that the man who got in first place.
