1. What do you know about the place in the photo

The place in the photo is part of the
Great Wall of China. It is made up from different sections of wall over 21000 kilometres and was built over thousands of years. It runs across the historical northern border of China. It is one of the most famous places in the world and receives millions of visitors every year.
2. What do you think of when you hear the phrase “cultural heritage”
When I hear the phrase “cultural heritage” I think of places like the Great Wall. But I also think about the relics and art in the Palace Museum, the books and stories from throughout our history. And even our language and writing. I also think about our natural landscapes and the animals and birds that also live in our country. Our heritage is everything we have that has been created and looked after by our ancestors and is there fore our responsibility to look after and add to.

China’s “Quanzhou, China’s World Ocean Trade Center in Song Dynasty (960-1279) and Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368)” project (泉州:宋元中国的世界海洋商贸中心) has been added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List, the UN organization announced on 25, July.

UNESCO is the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. It seeks to build peace through international cooperation in Education, the Sciences and Culture. UNESCO's programmes contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

It is a non-profit organization and run fully by young volunteers. The aim of the IYC is to create an international youth camp where everyone can discover and challenge themselves physically, mentally and spiritually while having a crazy amount of fun, connect with nature and the local culture.
