教学课题 第一课时 Conjunction Categories and Usages

教学目标 【知识目标】 Important words: Both...and, as well as, not only... but also, neither...nor, either...or, therefore, however. Important sentences: The news spread quickly and soon everybody knew what had happened. I know you are really busy. But could you just take a quick look at my writing, please Put on more clothes, or you’ll catch cold. 【能力目标】 To practice the conjunction. 【情感目标】 Use the conjunction soundly according to their meanings.
教学重难点 重点: usages of conjunction. 难点：common conjunction.
教学过程
◆Step 1 Warming-up and revision (1) Small talk (2) Talk about the conjunction that you’re familiar with, try to make sentences with the conjunction. 设计意图从活动引入，调动课堂气氛，引发学生学习兴趣
◆Step 2 Introduction Ask Ss to look at the board and check the conjunction to see if they know them. Show some examples of how the conjunction work.

◆Step 3 Presentation Categories: Coordinate conjunction: And, both...and, as well as, not only...but also, or, either...or, neither...nor, but, yet, for, therefore, so. They sat down and talked about something. Subordinate conjunction: When, while, before, after, where, wherever, though, although, as, because, since, that, so that, in order that, in case, such...that, so that, as, than. Usages: And: We are dancing and singing. They started to dance and sing. It’s always you who make me lucky, happy and healthy. Example: They news spread quickly ______ soon everybody knew what had happened. for B. but C. or D. and But: He is Chinese but he lives in England. John is clever, but I am not. Example: I know you are really busy, _______ could you just take a quick look at my writing, please For B. Or C. So D. But Or: Would you like coffee or orange You can leave or stay. They come today or tomorrow. Hurry or you’ll be late. Put on more clothes, or you’ll catch cold. I do not like chicken or fish. Both A and B: Both you and I must study hard. I can both sing and dance. As well as: He can sing as well as dance. We can’t expect her to do the housework as well as look after the children. Not only...but also: She is not only a writer, but also a teacher. John not only made a promise, but he also kept it. Not only does he like reading stories, but also he can even write some. Check answers together and try to discuss why you choose this option. ◆Step 4 Homework Try to remember the usages of the conjunction.
