Students Analysis The students I am teaching to are from Class 2 Grade 1. Before this class, they have learned some English words “blackboard”, “on”, “chair”, “in”, “desk”, “under”. Therefore, in this class, I will help students to use these words to ask questions to and know how to answer these questions in order to help them apply what they have learned into real context.
Teaching Objectives Students can understand and know how to ask questions to get the location of items by using the sentence “Where is.... It’s on/in/under....”
Teaching Difficult and Main points It’s somewhat difficult for students to successfully use correct prepositions of place to describe the specific location.
Stage 1 Warm-up
Step 1 Listen to a song Listen to a song “I can see”. 【Intention】: Listening to this song aims to help students better remember these words “on, in, under, by” under the guidance of the “TPR” theory. Step 2 Review Students need to speak out the words when they first see these words. 【Intention】: This step aims to help students review what they have learned.
Stage 2 Presentation
Step 1 Watch a video The teacher will ask students to watch a video, and students will be first exposed to the related sentences “Where is...” “It’s....” 【Intention】: This step aims to help students be exposed to the these words in a context. Step 2 Find the ruler Students need to find the ruler, pencil and schoolbag hided in the classroom. When students are looking for these items, the teacher will repeat the question “where is the... ” 【Intention】: This step aims to help students be first exposed to the new words by watching a video.
Stage 3 Practice
Step 1: I can remember Students need to watch and find out the location of the item. 【Intention】: The game will arouse students’ interests to ask and answer. Step 2 The Magic Wheel Teacher will ask students to answer the related questions when the wheel stops. 【Intention】: The game will arouse students’ interests to ask and answer and further understand the sentences. Step 3 I can work in pairs! This game is similar to hide and seek, Students need to work in pairs. Student A needs to hide the item, and then student B needs to ask the question “where is the... ”. And student B need to answer by using the sentence “It’s....” 【Intention】: The step aims to help students apply what they have learned into real context.
