宾语从句和定语从句
(一) 宾语从句
宾语从句的引导词:that, if/whether和疑问词
that that引导的宾语从句表示陈述意义,that在从句中不作任何成分也无意义,有时可以省略。
if/whether 当由一般疑问句充当宾语从句时,用if/whether引导。if常用于口语,whether常用于正式文体中,两者一般情况下可以互换,但是,当直接与or not连用时,只能用whether。
疑问词 当宾语从句是由特殊疑问句转化而来时,要用what, when, where, why, how等疑问词来引导。
宾语从句的用法
宾语从句须注意,陈述语序要牢记。
陈述句子用that,一般疑问是否(whether,if)替。
特殊疑问更简单,引导就用疑问词。
例题

宾语从句的时态
宾语从句的时态由主句来确定,主句用一般现在时,从句可以用任何需要的时态;主句用一般过去时,从句须用对应的某种过去时态。
注意:当从句表示客观真理、自然现象等时用一般现在时,不受主句时态的限制。

宾语从句的时态
从句时态常变化,主句不同从句异;
主句若为现在时,从句时态要看意;
主句若为过去时,从句时态向前移;
还有一点要例外,若表真理单独记。

宾语从句的语序
宾语从句的语序都用陈述句语序,且引导词位于从句句首。
例题

定语从句的关系代词
(二)定语从句
who 主格,代替指人的先行词,在从句中作主语或宾语。
whom 宾格,代替指人的先行词,在从句中作宾语。
whose 可指人或指物,先行词与引导词后面的名词为所属关系,在从句中作定语。
that 代替指人或指物的先行词,在从句中作主语或宾语。
which 代替指物的先行词,在从句中作主语、宾语等。
例题
I don’t know the girl ________ is standing at the gate.

【解析】定语从句中的先行词为人且引导词在句中作主语,故选C。

定语从句的关系副词
提醒:
由关系副词引导的定语从句有时可以用“介词+which”结构引导。
when 先行词表示时间时
where 先行词表示地点时
why 先行词表示原因时

定语从句的主谓一致
定语从句的引导词在从句中作主语时,从句谓语动词在人称和数上与先行词保持一致。

Junior high school dances
