Save the Planet
Many wild animals are facing the danger of extinction, because the environment that they are living in has changed greatly. We must make a change. Here are some suggestions.
First of all, the government should set up more nature parks to protect wild animals and precious plants. So that they can live in safety. Some people hunt and kill wild animals for money. So it’s also necessary for the government to develop laws to punish them.
On the other hand, companies must take actions as well. It’s their duty to reduce pollution. For example, polluted water or gas must be cleaned before it is discharged into the river or the air. Besides, using technology to make products greener is also good for the environment.
As students, we should try our best to protect the environment in daily life. For example, it’s important to divide rubbish into things to recycle and things to throw away. What’s more, we’d better ride a bike to school instead of taking a car.
So let’s take actions. To save the planet is to save ourselves!2022-2023 学年第一学期期末检测试题

John Dunlop, an Englishwoman, writes something about her experience with food from China. Since the COVID-19 broke out in London, cooking has become a way for her to deal with the “endless lockdown(封锁)”. She says she cooks in a very relaxed way, going to the farmers’ market at the weekend to buy seasonal products for everyday cooking—a mixture of Jiangnan, Hunan, Guangdong, and Sichuan dishes.
“For me, there are so many wonderful things about Chinese food. The thing that I find is greatest about it is that you can eat food that is both really delicious and incredibly healthy,” Dunlop says. “The Chinese are experts at cooking vegetables.”
Growing up in Oxford, Dunlop dreamed of becoming a cook when she was
little. However, her dream did not come true until she came to Chengdu, as a university student. That was when she began learning local cooking skills.
Always keeping a notebook on hand wherever she went, she wrote down the recipes of the dishes she tasted. Based on her knowledge of Sichuan cuisine ( 烹饪), Dunlop published her first book, Sichuan Cookery, which was praised by a famous British diet magazine. She has written a book called Land of Fish and Rice, which is about recipes from Jiangnan. In the book, Dunlop displays her good understanding of the food culture that runs deep in the blood of Chinese people.
“Many of the old classic food books came from this region.” she says.
To better understand the context ( 背景) of the food in Jiangnan, Dunlop started reading Chinese classics like The Dream of the Red Chamber which contained detailed descriptions of dishes in ancient China.
After collecting all the recipes, Dunlop tested them at her home in London to make sure they worked for people in the West.
“What I want to do is to try to describe the recipes correctly.” She says. “I also like the dishes that I’ve enjoyed, or that have a particular meaning for me.” she adds.

Our coming into the world is recorded with a pen. Before we have been at school, our name is written on the name list with a pen. We cannot be married until we have signed. A pen records the important events in our life.

五、阅读表达 (共 5 小题,每小题 2 分,计 10 分) This passage is about RealCine.
The technology behind RealCine is virtual reality(虚拟现实)(VR). Unlike ordinary cinema, RealCine excites all five of our senses: sight, hearing, smell, touch and even taste. RealCine works by making the viewers feel that they are actually in the film. To achieve this, special VR headsets(耳机)are made to
help the viewers see a world of 3D and hear the sounds clearly all around them.
Besides films, VR might also have some other uses. For example, firefighters could be trained using RealCine to avoid the risk of entering a burning building themselves. It could be used in the classrooms too. Teachers could bring history alive by placing students in a famous battle(战役)or they could teach biology
by allowing students to be a whale or an ant for a lesson.
Is the technology behind RealCine called VR
.
Translate the underlined sentence into Chinese.
.
What do viewers wear so they feel they are actually in the film

touched. Both the headsets and the gloves are connected to the RealCine computer system. To add to the virtual(虚拟的)world of RealCine, smells are given out through small openings in the headsets. Special food and drinks are delivered into the viewer’s mouth via a sensor.
In scientific studies it has been shown that VR can provide teenagers with another way to experience the world. For example, in one experiment, a teenager whose dream was to be a world–famous football star experienced a VR film where he played the role of the captain of the Brazilian football team.
Give a proper title to the passage.
