Down came the brown waterfall.
Only in this way can you improve your English.2.not until
(1)Not until the early years of the 19th century did man know what heat is.
(2)Not until all the fish died in the river did the villagers realize how serious the pollution was.
3.nor,little,few,never,seldom,hardly,scarcely等否定词或者含有no/not的短语在句首时,句子要倒装,句子的谓语要用肯定形式。(1)-Do you know Jim quarreled with his brother?
-I don't know,nor do I care.
(2)Not a single song did she sing at yesterday's party.
4.“so+形容词/副词that...”
(1)So difficult did I feel it to live in an English speaking country that I determined to learn English.
(2)So hard does he work that everyone admires him.5.“only+状语”在句首时,句子要倒装。
(1)Only with hard work can you expect to get a pay rise.
(2)Only when the war was over did the young soldier return to his hometown.6.as引导让步状语从句时,要把从句中的表语、状语(副词)放在主语前,构成倒装句型:
(1)Much as I have traveled,I have never seen anyone who's as capable as John.
(Much as I have traveled=Although I have traveled much)
(2)Child as he is,he knows a lot.(Child as he is=Though he is a child)
