)
Module 8的主要内容为运用宾语从句和定语从句来描述毕业生晚会上的对话和写作毕业晚会上的发言。从全书来看,本模块是对以前宾语从句和定语从句的总结和运用,着重引导词的使用,让同学们通过课堂学习活动来掌握其用法。

)
Step1. Words
1. Show the new phrases through pictures.
2. Teacher ask questions to students and students answer them with the new words and phrases to enhance their own memory.
Step2. Learning
1. Look at the picture. Let students answer the questions about graduate ceremony. What’s the special event
What is everybody doing
2. Listen and answer the questions about the content in the listening material.
Where is Betty going tonight
What are Betty and Tony going to do
Why does Betty refuse to eat before she leaves
3. Read carefully and make notes in a table.
4. Read again and answer the questions below.
Why is Lingling sad
What makes the hall look wonderful
What do they think of the music
What are Tony’s plans
What is on the menu
What do they wish for when they raise their glasses
5. Let students talk about their plan for the future and share with their friends.
6. Complete the questions with the words in the box.
7. Make a sentence with each of the following word.
8. Teach the everyday English phrases and highlight them in the text.
9. Let students role-play the dialogues containing these expressions.

Step4. Language points
1.be going to 可以表示打算、意图,也可以表示有某种迹象,比如:It’s going to rain.。
miss在这里做动词,是“想念, 惦记”的意思。
miss做动词还可以有“错过;漏掉”的意思。
2. 这里beat指(音乐、诗歌等的)主节奏、节拍。
3. 这里intend to do sth表示“打算做某事”。intend指在心中已有确定的目标或计划, 作“盘算,意想”解, 比plan的语气强。
“打算做… / 计划做…”句型包括以下:
intend / plan to do 打算做……
be going to do 打算/计划做……
decide to do 决定做……
be determined to do 决定做……
make up one’s mind to do 下定决心做……
4. fetch 作动词,意为“(去)拿来”。
bring 表示“拿来;带来”,指从别处拿过来, 有时还可指由说话者随身带着(去某处),可以包括“带走”;take 表示“拿走;带走”, 指从此处拿出去。
fetch表示“去拿来”;carry则指“随身带着”,不强调方向,表示“携带、背着、运送、搬扛”等意思。
bring 和 take 都表示单程,只是方向相反,而fetch则表示一往一返。
5. raise 在这里是动词,意为“举起”。
raise还有“提起,使升高,引起,扬起,提高,增加,筹款,召集,提出,养育”之意。
raise是及物动词,后面一定要加宾语;而rise是不及物动词,后面不能加宾语。
6. Here’s to …是祝酒的常用语,意思是“为……干杯”。
