Waldseilgarten is an adventure mountain holiday center in Germany that offers guests an exciting night in the wilderness. Sleeping at the top of a mountain, brave guests can spend the night hanging off the tree tops, or over a cliff (悬崖) face.
During the warmer months, the holiday center hosts adventure nights out. Guests can sleep in their own portaledges (掉帐), hanging several meters above the ground. A portaledge is a hanging tent system that is generally used by rock climbers on more than one day climbs. At Waldseilgarten, the tents are hung from thick branches of large free-standing trees, where guests can only ascend or descend with the help of ropes.
Guests that look for more air and an extreme camping experience can choose to sleep on an overhanging platform. It lies among huge cliffs between l,000 and 2,000 meters high. However, if that's just a little too extreme for you, the holiday center will also offer some easier sleeping choices. You can sleep on cliff platforms between 100 and 300 meters high, or on tree platforms hanging between trees. They are easy ways to go down to the ground at any time.
All guests that join in an adventure night out will receive rope (绳索) climbing training before spending a night in nature. Waldseilgarten seems to offer a camping experience you will surely remember. However, that experience doesn't come cheap. A night sleeping in the trees in a portaledge will cost $336 per person, while the cliff platforms will cost you $1,199. Around the world, about 43 million children under the age of five were overweight in 2011.
Overweight and obese children are more likely to become overweight and obese adults. The condition can generate serious health problems like diabetes, heart disease and stroke.

Medium is a new place on the Internet where people share ideas and stories that are longer than 140 characters. It is designed not just for friends but for little stories that make your day better and manifestos (宣言) that may change the world. It's used by everyone from reporters to cooks. It's simple, beautiful, collaborative (合作的), and it helps you find the right audience for whatever you have to say.
If you're here to read, start from the homepage, where you'll find links to interesting new articles, as well as the most popular pieces among readers right now. Of course you can leave notes for writers and the pieces you like.
If you're interested in writing, here are three things to know about how Medium is different.
Medium lets you focus on your words. Medium is a beautiful space for reading and writing. The words are central. They can go with pictures to help show your point. When you write on Medium, you'll know that your words and pictures will look great.
Medium is collaborative. On Medium, you're not alone. You can write with other people. This means your posts (贴子) link to each other. Instead of living on an island somewhere out on the web, you're part of a whole, where each part makes the others better. At the heart of Medium is the idea that people create better things together. Even great writers need editors, and Medium makes it easy to get help before you press the "Publish" button.
Medium helps you find your audience. Some posts get hundreds of thousands of readers – but not because they are written by famous people. Medium is not about who you are or whom you know, but about what you have to say.
( ) 36. What can people do on Medium?
A. They can chat with friends.
B. They can change the world.
C. They can share ideas and stories.
D. They can learn how to write a report.
( ) 37. If you are interested in some articles on Medium, you may ____.

C. link them to other articles
D. tell them to editors or reporters

C. videos
D. songs
( ) 39. The fifth paragraph mainly tells ____.
A. you can say whatever you want on Medium
B. people can work on good articles together on Medium
C. you should write your article on your own on Medium
D. people need to write articles with the help of editors on Medium
( ) 40. From the passage we can learn ____.

Jeannette Walls knows a thing or two about careless parents. In 2005, in the book of The Glass Castle, the author recalled (回想起) her poor childhood in the 1960s and 1970s with parents who suffered from mental illness and alcoholism (酗酒) among other sufferings. Walls followed her first success four years later with Half Broke Horses: A True – Life Novel, which mainly described the life of her grandmother. Now comes the novel The Silver Star, which, like her earlier two books, offers themes of determination and forgiveness.
In 1970, 12-year-old Jean Holladay (known as "Bean") and her 15-year-old sister, Liz, were living in a small Southern California town called Lost Lakes. Their single mother, Charlotte, who called herself a (n) singer, songwriter and actress, always insisted that "her big break was right around the corner." She felt very nervous and bored when staying in one place for too long and often suddenly announced to her daughters that it was time to pack and make a fresh start - even in the middle of the night.
But one day, Charlotte started her new trip without her girls, leaving behind a note about needing to "find the magic again". She gave them $200 to get by until she returned and ended her note by reminding them to clean their teeth. They wondered if they would ever see their mother again.
A character such as Charlotte might seem too silly or strange to be believable, but anyone who has read The Glass Castle, knows that this woman is not a character of pure invention (虚构). At least Liz and Bean have each other. The brave girls started cross-country for a small Virginia town called Byler, where they hoped to meet their mother's brother, Uncle Tinsley. When Liz and Bean took part-time jobs without telling their uncle, their troubles really began.
The Silver Star is a lovely, moving novel. Throughout, Walls expresses beautifully the close relationship between Bean and Liz.
( ) 41. We can learn from the first paragraph that ____.
A. The Glass Castle is Walls' second book
B. The Glass Castle brought Walls a lot of success
C. all Walls' books talked about the life of his grandmother
D. determination and forgiveness can be found in Walls' three books
( ) 42. Which word can best describe Walls' childhood?
A. Terrible.
B. Wonderful.
C. Unforgettable.
D. Exciting.
( ) 43. Why did Bean's mother leave her and her sister suddenly this time?
A. Because she didn't love her daughters any more.
B. Because she needed to learn something about magic to support her family.
C. Because she thought she had found another chance to realize her dream soon.
D. Because she had to leave home to make more money for her daughters.
( ) 44. Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the last two paragraphs?
A. A character such as Charlotte is too silly to be believed.
B. The two sisters had no choice but to live by themselves.
C. The two sisters didn't want their uncle to know about their jobs.
D. The Silver Star is a book about the love between mother and daughter.
( ) 45. What's the writer's purpose in writing the passage?
A. To tell us that women can also write famous books.
B. To attract readers to buy an interesting book.
C. To introduce a new book to us.
D. To talk about relationships between mothers and daughters.

Looking back to the past one hundred years, you will see that science and technology have greatly changed our life. Nowadays, we couldn’t live without these scientific and technological products and inventions (发明).
Cars, for example, and other forms of modem transportation have greatly reduced our travel time. Without them, travelling would have been a real killer. The Internet and the phone represent big steps forward in the field of technology. Without the Internet, it would not have been possible for us to get the latest information so fast in every corner of the world. The phone has helped reduce or get rid of distances. Now, people living continents apart can often talk to one another from time to time. The mobile phone has enabled us to talk to someone no matter where we are. Emails have replaced the telegraph system.
As a result, what we can see is that we totally depend on these inventions and technologies now. Can you imagine living for a week or so without a phone or the Internet? It would be practically impossible for us. New technologies have replaced older ones and changed our life.

How to keep healthy has been a great concern for more and more people and the following are some suggestions you should do in your daily life. First, don’t eat too much fatty food — like meat, and try to eat as much fresh fruits and vegetables as possible. Second, make sure you have enough regular sleep every day and don’t stay up late and don’t drink or smoke. In addition, you should also set aside some time for exercise like running or playing basketball as often as you can, which helps make your body stronger. Finally, keeping a good mood in your life is also very important because it contributes a lot to your health.
(One possible version)
The author thinks we have greatly benefited (受益) from science and technology. He then sets some examples to show our close contact with the scientific and technological products in life.
I agree with the author. Without science and technology, it would be impossible for us to move a step forward. For example, the mobile phones play such an important role in our daily lives that it would be very difficult for us to live well without them.
However, science and technology may also have disadvantages. There are too many cars now in the street, which causes many traffic accidents. The Internet also brings some information trash to our life.
Even though every coin has two sides, I still think we must develop science and technology. There is no doubt that they will do more good than harm to us. Besides, scientists should try their best to work out ways to deal with the side effects.
I don’t even know my neighbors’ names.
5. A。由上文首句“in an old apartment”可知选A,指代住房“条件”。
6. B。 The dryers in the laundry room are old...
8. D。由下句中的...be damp in the morning...
10. A。 bring “带来”; mend“缝补”;afford“付得起”。
16. if。 作为条件状语从句,与后句or if you are preparing for...
17. an。
18. in。
19. to make。
20. easily。
21. likes。
22. which。
23. about。 ;be careful about sth
24. you。
25. personal。
