It's that time of the year–early September. All students are going back to school, which makes me think of the time when I was young. There are some teachers that I will never forget.
My French teacher was a very fat man. We were a bit noisy, so when he walked into the class, he would stand in the front of the class with a serious face. He would shout, "Silance!" Well, that's how he pronounced it. Though he looked serious, he was a nice guy. I never hated learning French.
My physics teacher used to mutter (轻声低语) under his breath when talking. I hated that subject and he made me hate it even more. I don't think I have ever seen him smile. I wasn't surprised that I failed my physics test.
I had to have a lot of patience with my driving instructor. In those days, I paid£15 each hour to him and he would spend the first 15 minutes telling me stories about himself and his country. I used to wish that we could get moving, but on the outside, I smiled politely at him because he was an elderly man.
There is only one incident (事件) that stands clear in my head when I think of my geography teacher. When my parents came to school, my geography teacher kept telling my parents how lovely I was. She was really nice.

The Kibera School for girls in Kenya offers free education, uniforms, books and meals to girls from pre-kindergarten to the fourth grade. The school is the first to offer free education to girls in the area.
The people of Kibera struggle to provide themselves with food, places to live, clean water and good schools. When there is no money for school, parents usually ask their daughters to drop out of school before their sons.
The Kibera School for girls works to help the community understand the value of education. Parents do not have to pay, but a family member must work at the school for five weeks a year as a way to support a child's education.
Ten-year-old Joyce Achieng is one of the students at that school. She said, "It is important for girls because if we don't go to school, we will not achieve (实现) our goals and our dreams will not come true, either. We will not be what we want to be in the future."
Helping women make better futures is why Kennedy Odede built the school almost four years ago. He says that growing up in Kibera, he hates seeing that more boys than girls could go to school. In 2004, Mr Odede bought a soccer ball with twenty cents he had earned from working in a factory.
