II阅读
(共两节,满分50分)
第一节 阅读理解(共20小题;每小题2分,满分40分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D项中,选出最佳选项。
A
My dad is a wonderful man. He worked hard all his life and has never let me down. If one person influenced me to go to college and become a better person, it's him.
I moved in with my dad a few years ago. Every morning he would wake up at 4 am. He would do some writing and then leave for work. He would get off work at 5 pm and spend the remaining day with his family. Any time I needed him, he was there for me. He was a great role model. My dad is a typical family man. He bends over backwards to support his family. He supported us financially and emotionally.
My dad is the reason why I try to support my son as best as I can. He is also the reason why I have decided to spend less time with friends and more time with family. Now I'm a much better woman. I have a son of my own. I once worked hard on my studies in school and now do well in my work. My dad became a manager in less than three years and I hope to do the same. I have worked for the same company for one and a half years now. I have got two raises.
I remember I worked extremely hard in school. I never missed a day and I never went to school late. I graduated in July two years ago. This was only the first step to becoming a psychologist. My father is an expert in this field. But I'm proud that I never rely on his reputation.
My father is more than 2,000 miles away, but I never forget what he did for us. Every time work gets really hard, I think of my dad. Every time I feel like giving up I think of him.

Nick Hancock hopes to set a new record by living alone for 60 days on a small island in the Atlantic.
Tom McClean, an SAS soldier who holds the solo record for occupying (占领) Rockall for 40 days in 1985, told Hancock that being alone for two months was the greatest challenge Hancock would have to face.
"I'm fully expecting it to be tough," Nick Hancock said. "I'm hoping that by doing my daily tasks fairly slowly, I'm going to be able to keep most of my time busy. I think the worst times will come if I'm boxed up for several days by bad weather."
Hancock hopes to land on Rockall in early June and will carry out the last tests of his boat next week. He has a small wind turbine (风电机) and a solar panel for power, more than two months' food, a satellite phone and a laptop loaded with e-books to keep him going. Hancock will update an adventure blog, texting messages out on Twitter and emailing his wife Pam and friends on mainland Scotland every day.
Rockall has been occupied before, most famously by McClean but also by three Greenpeace campaigners, who set the long-stay record of 42 days in 1997 by occupying the rock in protest at oil and gas exploration (勘察) in the area.
The last human inhabitants Hancock knows of are a small group of Belgian amateur radio enthusiasts, who are interested in broadcasting from distant islands; they were on Rockall overnight in late 2010.

Most of us know wolves from cartoons where they play the roles of bad eggs, such as Little Red Riding Hood, Although the fear of wolves is also prevalent in many human societies in reality, the majority of recorded attacks on people have been done by those suffering from diseases. In fact, wolves are rarely a threat to man and prefer to live their lives in the wild away from man.
Wolves are timid (胆小的). They go out of their way to avoid being around people and will even give up their food when they think man is approaching. The wolves in zoos have been trained that when they see the zoo keeper, they know food is coming. Therefore wolves that have been even slightly domesticated (驯养) by man are more of a threat than a wild wolf that has never been introduced to man.
Hunting has reduced the species' range, though its still relatively widespread range and big population means that the species is not threatened at a global level, and therefore has attracted little attention from wildlife protectors.
Many wolves now live in wild life preserves where wild animals are protected well. Humans are allowed in only under certain circumstances and then only under strict supervision (监管). Yellowstone Park has strict rules for viewing wildlife. Remaining at a specific distance and not going up to pet wild animals is one of these rules. These preserves are another way that wolves are kept in their own habitat safe from the threat of man’s influence.
Wolf is the only ancestor of the dog, which was first domesticated in the Middle East. As a result, many people mistakenly think a wolf is a dog due to their similarity. It's important to remember that even dogs will attack when they are made angry. When you see one of these animals it's important to keep a distance.

第二节 读写任务(共1小题,满分25分)
阅读下面短文,然后按要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。
Many students fail to perform well in an exam not because they lack ability, but because of the unique pressure of the exam room - the ticking clock on the wall, the teachers walking around, and the thought that their future will be decided by the exam.
It's not just students who will face pressure. We are competitive animals and we decide to evaluate each other, whether at exams, in job interviews or even on romantic dates, so all of us occasionally get nervous. Removing pressure altogether from life is an impossible dream.
However, there are some ways which can help reduce our pressure. It turns out that we are far more likely to overcome the pressure when we are as familiar as possible with the situation we are about to face. Of course, even when we are well prepared, we may still feel nervous, but at least we will be more equipped to deal with our nerves than if we have failed to prepare. Furthermore, we may also benefit from reminding ourselves that the big moment is not that big after all from a different perspective. Even a huge exam is not as important as a loving family, or good health.

2.以约120个词表达你对“压力”的看法,并包括如下要点:

American Dreams in China directed by Chen Kexin is a great success. In the 1980s, three young men at Yanching University are eager to realize their dreams. Meng, who has many family members having studied abroad in America, desires like his relatives to change the world. Wang would like to try his best to enjoy his passionate youth in the early reform and opening up period. Cheng comes from the countryside and has failed in the college entrance examination twice. But he learns from Meng, makes an effort to study hard and finally finds his true love. However, only Meng eventually gets a U.S. visa. The gap between reality and dreams really lets the other two down. Fortunately, with the help of Wang, Cheng sets up his own English training school and begins to taste the joy of success. In the end, all of them become successful.
读写任务 (One possible version)
The writer mainly tells us not only students but also other people would feel stressed on different occasions. Also, he gives some suggestions on how to reduce pressure.
As far as I’m concerned, pressure is part of life. We may feel stressed at an exam, in a sports meeting or when speaking to a stranger. It’s of great importance to have a right attitude towards pressure because too much pressure has negative effects on our life. For example, a genius with a doctor’s degree killed himself in America because of heavy pressure.
As a high school student, my life is also full of pressure. I would try to reduce pressure by doing sports or listening to music. Also I would talk with my parents, teachers and friends to gain help or understanding. For example, expecting me to be a top student, my parents sent me to all kinds of training classes at weekends, which made me stressful. So I told them my true feeling and they cancelled some classes for me.
