We all know that fresh fruits and vegetables not only taste good, but also are very good for us. In many parts of Africa, particularly in cities, fresh fruits and vegetables are hard to come by. However, that may be changing.
City gardens are beginning to provide healthy food and money for people in several African countries. Senegal's capital, Dakar, is home to four million people. The city has several garden projects, including one at a hospital. It aims to improve the quality of food offered to the patients. A lot of patients benefit from it.

The Fusion Festival is a German music festival. It began in 1997 near the city of
L rz north of Germany and is held in a former military (军事的) airport. The festival lasts 4 to 6 days and attracts very friendly open-minded people.
The organizers take strict measures to stop ticket touts(票贩子). People wishing to attend the festival have to show interest in buying a ticket. If they are successful, they can then buy the ticket.

The Loneliness in New ZeaLand report, published by Statistics New Zealand, shows people under 30 are more likely to feel lonely than older people though they may have text, email, Facebook and Twitter.
Philip Walker, spokesman for the General Social Survey, said because it was relatively new it was hard to know whether loneliness among young people was a new trend(趋势). But overseas research has found that levels of loneliness in youth today are growing.
Mr Walker said the finding needed more study, including looking at the role of technology and social media. "It could be that people's expectations of connection have gone up, so we expect increased levels of connection." he said. "While technology like cell phones could help young people stay connected, on the other hand for those who do get bullied (欺负), especially bullied online, it's quite isolating (孤立的). A 1ot of the time potentially it is a big reason for loneliness.
Figures from online dating website Find Someone also said that more young people were looking for love. Manager Rick Davies said younger dating hopefuls were the fastest growing group on the site. Mr Davies noted that since the report data was collected in 2010 there had been a huge growth in smart phones, which meant people were online even more. He believed online tools, such as Skype, could help people stay connected. "People can keep in touch with a wide range of friends from all over the world much more easily now. It's like you're sitting in your living room having a chat with them."
Bernardine Reid, operations committee chairwoman for Samaritans, which operates a free helpline, said many of their calls came from people who were lonely. "It might be that they've got some problems, just like all the things people would normally talk to a friend about, but people who are alone lack those normal contacts."
The Statistics New Zealand report also showed people who didn't have face-to-face contact with family and friends were more likely to feel lonely, as were those who lived alone.

A. The older you are, the lonelier you feel.

D. Philip Walker is one of the authors of The Loneliness in New Zealand.

A. High technology may become a reason for loneliness.
B. Social media should play an important role in helping lonely people.
C. It's hard for people to get enough connection online as expected.
D. People shouldn't use the Internet to get to know strangers.
43. From the last two paragraphs, we can conclude that________.
A. people living alone have more connection online
B. people chatting a lot online tend to be optimistic
C. people communicating less in the real world risk loneliness
D. Internet can keep people free from loneliness

Education can be the most important factor in lifting a girl from poverty into a rewarding life.
In India, poverty and hardship meant many young girls would not go to school every morning but to work in the city's industries. Meera Vijayann was determined to fight for her education, eventually succeeding in becoming a writer and non-governmental organization worker. She wants girls to know that there is nothing to fear about wanting to learn "Always be open to learning. Only then does a world of opportunity open up," she says.
Niena Sevilla was inspired by her mother's story. Unable to attend high school due to poverty, her mother had to ask for the grandfather's approval to let her go to the city so she could work and study later. At the age of 13, she worked at a gasoline station. Through determination and persistence (坚持), her mother managed to open a successful shop in her hometown. Sevilla says, "Knowing my mother's story makes me believe that education is not about holding a college degree; it is about how you make your dreams come true."

As we see, nowadays more and more Chinese people, especially the young people, enjoy celebrating western festivals, such as Christmas Day, Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day and so on. These festivals become popular because young people want to follow the fashion. Also, the advertisements from shopping centers, restaurants, the media and so on contribute to the popularity of these festivals. There is no doubt that celebrating these western festivals will increase our understanding of western cultures and provide us with chances to get together with our family members and friends and to relax ourselves. However, we shouldn’t forget our traditional Chinese festivals while celebrating these western festivals.
读写任务 (One possible version)
In the passage, the author mainly tells us how important it is for girls to receive education. Through two examples, he shows us that education can change a girl’s life.
I totally agree with the author and think that it is of great importance for girls to receive education. Education helps a girl get the skills, information and self-confidence that she will need to be a better parent, worker and citizen. Some educated girls may even become great scientists, political leaders, or writers and make great contribution to the world when they grow up.
However, many girls in our country, especially in the poor areas, have no chance to receive education. This is mainly caused by two reasons: lack of money and the wrong idea that it’s unnecessary for girls to receive education.
Therefore, to protect girls’ rights for education, the government and the society should, first, educate the public about the importance of girls’ receiving education. Second, they can give support to poor families or provide free education for girls from poor families. Also, they can offer part-time jobs to poor college girls.
