Book1 Module4 Present Perfect
Analysis of the Teaching Materials and Students
The content is from the Book 1 Module 4 published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research. Students learnt some knowledge about present perfect, but they still have some problems in application. The text provides materials to enlighten students to pay attention to the usage of present perfect and simple past as well as the usage of momentary verb and durative verb in present perfect. In our town parents don’t attach importance to English learning of students. The students possess weak foundation especially concerning the listening and speaking skill. Students have lower confidence and little interest in English study, which is a big challenge for the teacher.
Teaching Objectives
1. Students will be able to get a clear understanding about the present perfect.
2. Students will be able to apply the present perfect in the context.
3. Students will be able to increase awareness of caring for the earth and learn to give reflection on what they have done
Key Points
This is the first/ second time sb have/ has done
It is/ has been + 一段时间 since .....
So far = till now = up to now
Difficult Points
Application of present perfect in the context
Durative verb and momentary verb when used with a period of time
Teaching Method
I will adopt Task-based Language Teaching. Through the whole teaching, I connected self –study with group work.
Teaching Procedure

3. Broadcast a video “what’ve done” and ask questions Watch the video and answer the questions of students Make preparations for the following task
4. Present the details of what humans have done Fill in the blank Allow students to understand the use of present perfect in the context
5. Ask ss to give a summary about when to use present perfect Based on the context, summarize when to use present perfect Help ss to understandthe usage of present perfect in the context
6. Give practice about the sentence pattern as well as the change of momentary verb and durative verb Give translation about sentences and learn sth about momentary verb and durative verb Strengthen the application of present perfect
7. Ask the students to challenge a task involved in different tenses Complete the task ;Present the answer on theblackboard,correct and evaluate in groups Further help ss to use present perfect in different tenses and understand what humans have done
8. Ask questions and ask students to give reflection on what they have done Present their group work Students complete the output with the form of context
9. Ask ss to give a summary what they have learnt Give a summary what they have learnt in this class Deepen the impression of ss on the class
Post- task Complete the practice about present perfect in the learning sheet and the composition Students will do as they are told consolidate what they have learned
Evaluation and Reflection：
In this class I have successfully created situations to arouse students’ interest and achieve the understanding and application based on a context for grammar teaching. Through guide and practice step by step, students have well mastered the present perfect in the form of listening, speaking, reading and writing. On the other hand, many problems still remain to be settled. I didn’t give homework evaluation considering the easy preview work. Besides students are not very familiar some terms about grammar, for example the passive form, momentary verb, durative verb, though I give them in the preview part. At last, my intonation lack of rhythm and passion. Anyway, I will continue make efforts in teaching.
