Module4 Reading and Vocabulary 名师教学设计
1教学目标
1. language objective: the students are able to learn and master the words and sentence patterns
2. skill objective: the students are able to gather related information and write a short description of the living place
3. emotional objective: the students are able to appreciate the beautiful scenery and love the hometown and homeland
2学情分析
The students have studied in senior high for about one month, and they are very interested in English class, therefore, they have more enthusiasm to express themselves. According to the learning situation, I have designed the whole class structure, IPO (Input-Process-Output) model, which gave a lot of chances to enable the students to practice reading and expressing themselves, then writing.
3重点难点
Teaching focus:
How to enable the students to write a brief report of the neighborhood or hometown using the related words and sentence patterns
Teaching difficulties:
How to improve the students’ reading and writing ability

4.1.1教学活动
活动1【导入】Pre－task
teacher's activity:1.Show the video and ask the students to say the name of the place2.Show the learning objectives and invite some students to read them.
3. Ask the students to brainstorm and say the aspects about describing a city
students' activity:
1.Appreciate the video and say the name of the place.
2.Read through the learning objectives.
3. brainstorm and say the aspects about describing a city
purpose:
1. to lead in.
2. To let the students know some aspects about how to describe a city
活动2【讲授】while－task
Explain the key points according to the structure
Visiting experience and feeling:
1. It’s been 6 years since we last saw each other.
2. This is the first time I’ve visited your hometown.
3. This is one of the most attractive places I’ve been to.
4. I feel very fortunate living here.
Location:
be/lie/be located…/be situated…
Climate:
What’s the climate like
Pretty hot and wet in the summer, but it can be quite cold in the winter.
Districts:
They’ve put up a lot of high-rise buildings recently.
Scenery:
It’s a gorgeous island with some really interesting architecture.

Practice speaking and using the expressions freely and take notes about the key points
Group work: discuss about the key sentences and choose one person to write on the blackboard
Refer to the dictionary and guess the meaning

teacher's activity: Ask the students to prepare for the tour guide show in groups
students' activity:
Prepare for the tour guide show in groups by imitating the dialogue and present.
Group work: one is a guide to introduce the city Dalian. Other 3students are visitors who can ask questions about the city.
purpose: To get the students to reinforce the sentence patterns and learn to introduce a city
活动5【活动】post－task
teacher's activity:
1.Get the students to write a description of the hometown
2.Get the students exchange the idea about the compositions
3.Ask students to present the compositions students' activity:
1.Write a description of the hometown
2.Polishing
Group work: discuss and exchange ideas about the composition, underline the good points and correct some mistakes
3.Presentation of the composition, and other students take notes and give their opinions
purpose:1To check if the students can describe a similar topic after learning2Learn good expressions from other students3To check if the students can evaluate others’ compositions
活动6【作业】assignment
Send an email to your friend in other cities to invite them to come to Da Lian, and introduce your hometown
purpose: To reinforce what has been learned and get everyone to practice describing a city
