讲授新课 Step 1 Reading Pre-readingLet the students read 2a. Write the letter of each sport next to each accident or problem that can happen . Ask students to look at the picture in 2b and discuss the following questions . What is the man doing What do you think of him Step 2 While-reading Fast-reading Read for the general idea of 2b . Get the students to read the passage quickly and get the main idea of the passage . Read the passage quickly and match the main idea with each paragraph with the help of the first sentence. There is a reading strategy listed here. Careful reading Task 1 Read Para .1 and draw the mind map of Para. 1 Task 2 Read Para. 2 . and learn what Ralston did and how he saved himself . Read Para . 2 and answer the following questions and then draw the mind map Q1: What is the accident Q2: What did Aron do at first Q3: What did Aron do when the water ran out How did he save his own life And get the mind map . Review what he did and how he saved his life in the accident by reading the mind map . Task 3 Read Para. 3 and answer the questions , and then draw the mind map . Q1: What did Aron do after losing his arm Q2: What did he tell in his book Q3: Why did he keep on climbing mountains Para. 3 mind map Task 4 Read Para. 4 and discuss the following questions . Q1: What is the spirit of Aron Q2: What is a good decision Arm or life Q3: How to control life Wait or save Let the students discus s the questions in pairs and then show their opinions . So we should learn the spirit from Aron in our daily life . Step 3 Post-reading Summarize Aron’s story and retell it . T:The whole Passage mainly talks about an accident . Before the accident , we know something about Aron . During the accident , we know when ,where , what and how . And after the accident , we know he wrote a book and keep on climbing . And this shows his great spirit . Can you retell the story Have a discussion In our real life , does anyone have the same spirit as Aron Present three persons’ pictures and introductions . Let Ss discuss in group of four and choose the one they like best to give a report .
