Monday morning before class, our teacher Mrs. Li told us that this week the principal(校长) would have lunch with some students from Grade 9. I was one of the lucky 56 chosen to have lunch with the principal. We should meet the principal on Thursday. After the morning class that day, Mrs. Li took us to the principal’s meeting room. When I entered the room, I saw 14 spaces set up at a big round table, each with a student’s name card. My seat was directly opposite the principal’s, face to face. But when I sat down and saw my favorite food, I felt not so worried. The principal said hello and asked us how we were. He asked three questions: How do you like Grade 9 What’s your favorite subject and dream high school Do you have any advice for the school’s development
I answered, “I’ve made many good friends. And we don’t have too much homework, so I can manage my time well. And my favorite subject so far is math and...”
At last, I suggested that our school should encourage more students to take part in competitions. To my surprise, the next day the school gave a questionnaire(问卷) about competitions.

Dear Mike,My good friend always wants to copy my schoolwork. I don’t want to give her, but I don’t want to hurt her feelings, either. What should I do Lisa
Dear Lisa,I used to be the one who needed others’ “help” to finish my homework. I didn’t think it was a big deal as long as I understood the main points of the lesson. I copied answers from different students so my teacher wouldn’t catch me. Many of these “kind” students shared their homework generously (慷慨地), but my best friend Jack refused my request (请求). Instead, he showed me how to solve the homework’s problems and let me find the answers by myself. It made me unhappy, so I ignored (忽略) him for a long time. But I failed my final exam. I was very sad and only Jack came to comfort me. Later on, we studied and discussed questions together, so we could make progress together. True friends do what is best for you. If you care about your friend, don’t let her copy your work. Help her learn how to do it herself. Mike

Life is full of regrets. It seems to be a fact of life: the job you didn’t take, the choice of the wrong school, the money you didn’t save, and on and on and on. Everyone has regrets in life. As we get older, we look back and wish that we had made better choices, so what can we do to avoid future regrets
Make better plans
If you start to do something, you need to make a plan before doing it. The earlier, the better. You will know what comes first and what comes last. You’ll also know what you should do and what you shouldn’t do. If changes happen, you can have more time to deal with them.
Live a more active life
You can go around more often. More outdoor activities can keep you relaxed and active. You also need to be kind. “Thank you” can bring a smile to someone’s face. Learn to say “sorry” and don’t be angry with others.
Make friends carefully
A friend may make your life and he or she can break your life as well. So you have to think twice when you choose a friend. Good friends will always give you good ideas. When you get into trouble, ask others for help. That little help may get you good results.
Never fear failure
Everybody fails. Even the greatest person failed. We should not fear failure, because failure is not the end of the road. We must take failure as a chance to learn and improve ourselves.
Life is good. We don’t have to live in our past, but we do hope that we can plan better, live better and work better when we have the chance to do so.

Nancy’s boss has just let her know that her customers’ products are about to leave the company. And then he tells her there’s a problem.
“The products were damaged (损坏) by someone in our company,” the boss says. “But this shouldn’t affect the use of the products. If the customers find it, we’ll say it was caused by the trucking (货运) company that delivered (运载) the products.”
Hearing this, Nancy feels uncomfortable. “But didn’t our workers damage the products ” Her boss looks at her, “Yeah, but the customers don’t know that. I’ll just say they were damaged while they were delivered. Don’t worry, the customers won’t even notice the damage.”
Nancy’s boss walks out. Nancy sits at her desk and she’s not sure what to do. She knows it’s dishonest to blame (将归咎于) the damage on the trucking company. It’s also dishonest to cheat her customers and give them less perfect products.
Many of us have to make decisions that make who we are and what we believe in. Most often, we face a choice that may seem insignificant (微不足道的). But this doesn’t mean that they’re not important to us because even the smallest action may make a difference to us.
