Teaching Aims
1.) Knowledge and Skills
To help the students learn how to grasp the reading skills from the understanding of related context and guess the English meaning of new words and phrases
2.) Process and Approach
To guide the students to develop the ability of thinking and expressing in English through Student-centered task-based language teaching and
to learn to collect and share the suggested ideas with the cooperation of the whole class through different levels of activity-based challenge,
group discussion and presentation
3.) Attitude and Value
To help develop their awareness of cooperation and the problem-solving ability
2学情分析
General analysis of Students in Class 10, Grade 2:
1) Class 10 consists of 27 boys and 22 girls, divided into 8 groups with 2 in each group whose quality of language output is relatively higher, and 2 in each group who need much help in learning English.
2) Although students’ English abilities vary considerably, all of them can participate in task-based group learning activities, perform actively and deal with the challenges in class by cooperating with group members.
3.) It was comparatively easier for them to do reading comprehension after the study of vocabulary, but the challenge of this class design is to try to guess the meaning of new words and phrases from the context of the passage after doing the reading comprehension. Through the cooperation practice of pair work, group work and class work, the students collect enough information by thinking and expressing in English, and then present and share their production successfully with the whole class.
4.) Although students’ English abilities vary considerably, all of them are able to participate in task-based group learning activities, perform actively and deal with the challenges in class by cooperating with their group members. So the idea of learning new words and phrases through reading and discussing in groups helps me a lot to arouse their enthusiasm and curiosity.
