People speak many different languages. Buy among them, some words are common (常见). “OK” is one such word! March 23 is OK Day. And this year, the word “OK” turned 179.
The word “” first appeared (出现) in the Boston Morning Post on March 23, 1839. It read: ok. It was an abbreviation () of the phrase (词组) “”, an incorrect spelling (不正确的拼写) of “”. Although (尽管) it began as a joke, people later used the phrase on documents (文件) to say that all was well.
People like “” for many reasons. It is easy to say and write. It is also easy to understand. “” is a neutral (中性的) word. If you say something is great, some people may disagree (不同意). But with “OK”, everyone tends (趋向于) to agree.
“OK” is welcomed around the world. You may not know the language of someone you’re talking with, but saying “OK” along with gestures (手势) helps pothers understand you.
You may often see that some people use “OK” while others use “okay”. What’s the difference Well, they’re both spoken in the same way. But “OK” is the most widely accepted (广泛接受的)_ spelling. It is often used in writing. Some people like “okay” because it looks more like a word.

I am Samuel. When I was a child, I had to go to a special education () school because of my dyslexia (阅读障碍症). People around me always told me that I was different and I couldn’t do something like normal (正常的) kids when I was young. Few of them were willing to encourage me.
At the age of 5, I started to go to that special school called People of Appraisal. Although (尽管) that special school helped me a lot with my communication skills, I still wanted to be a normal kid in a normal school. At the age of 7, I was in the 1st grade in Creswell Elementary in Opelousas Louisiana. I became an excellent student and my life began to change for the better that year.
Although I have Dyslexia, I always keep trying in my life and don’t let others influence me. Now I am a 37-year-old college freshman () and an excellent student in my college.
