阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。

When I was 12 years old, I already knew that my teen years were going to be the worst years of my life. I was a total outsider, bullied(欺凌)at school. I felt completely alone in my small town. But by starting to do volunteer work when I was 14, I turned my problem into helping others. The opportunity to practice kindness made me feel like my life had a greater purpose. The more positive energy I shared, the more kindness and appreciation I received. I realized that my purpose in life would be to reach out to people, specifically teenagers, and help them feel less alone.
Books were my true friends back then. I was so thankful that the authors wrote those books. The kindness they offered me with their books saved my life. One of my biggest dreams was to become an author so I could write books that would help other teenagers the way those books helped me.
After surviving terrible experiences at school and at home, I made a choice to take the optimistic and positive road in the next steps of my journey. My dream carcer, which I thought was only possible for the authors I loved, is what I am doing now. I have been a full-time author of teen novels since 2007 and am grateful for this amazing opportunity to reach out to readers every single day.
Kindness saved me when I needed help the most. Even small acts of kindness can change someone’s life. You never know what someone else is going through. But by practicing daily kindness, you become an architect of positive change.

Knowing how to communicate well needs very personal attention between you and another human being. Is there a better way to learn how to communicate effectively Yes, there is. Please follow the 3 basic steps below.
Relax and breath
Whether it's a business meeting or a first date the first thing you must do in order to communicate is to relax.
When you relax you are in control. You control your reactions and your reactions do not control you. Breathing is central to relaxation. Take a few deep breaths and your body will begin to be more at ease. This will help you apply what you already know about how to communicate well.
Think and you will be prepared
Have you ever heard the old saying "think before you speak" Well, it is true. By thinking ahead about how the conversation might flow you will be better prepared, more at ease and more confident.
Follow the flow of the conversation
If you are uncomfortable, being silent will only make it worse and make the other person uncomfortable as well. So when all else fails, follow through with small talk until a common topic appears.
A good way to keep a conversation going is to ask the other person questions. People love to talk about themselves and if you do this they will leave the conversation thinking very highly of you. Learning good communication skills is not something out of reach. If you make an effort, you will succeed.
1. Which of the following is the best title of the passage
A. How to Communicate with Anyone You Meet
B. Preparation and Conversation

3.Why does relaxation play an important part in your good communication
A. Because it can help you keep excited and react quickly in the communication.
B. Because it will help you organize good sentences for your communication.
C. Because it can help you put your communication skills that you know into use.
D. Because no one likes to communicate with a nervous person.
4. If you feel uncomfortable, you'd better ________.
A. keep silence in order to give the chance of speaking to others
B. speak freely so as to run across the topic you like
C. talk small things until you find a topic you both like
D. ask questions which you are interested in

A 9.0 magnitude earthquake off the Indonesian coast sent a wall of water racing toward Thailand, Malaysia and Sri Lanka. Lang was on the island of Ko Phi Phi, just south of Phuket, Thailand, shopping on Main Street with her friend Rubina Wong, when suddenly everything changed. “People started running inland. From where we were, we could not see the beach so we had no idea what was going on,” she said.

I thought I came here on my vacation to die, and then I got really annoyed,” she said. “I must have blacked out because the next thing I remember is waking up underwater.”
The water was still and black. Lang looked up and could see that at the top, there was a small circle of light. She started swimming through the water and made it to the surface of the water. She pulled herself onto a floating door and could see that the whole island was flooded and a lot of buildings were gone. She could see a house not far away and a man on its roof. She encouraged herself to climb over the floating objects to the balcony (阳台) of the house. From there she saw the water start to slowly go back to the ocean.

Dear Daughter,
As we drove off from Columbia University, I wanted to write a letter to you to tell you all that is on my mind.
College will be the most important years in your life. It is in college that you will truly discover what learning is about. I encourage you to be inquisitive, but I also want to tell you: "Education is what you have left after all that is taught is forgotten." What I mean by that is the materials taught aren't as important as your gaining the ability to learn a new subject, and the ability to analyse a new problem. That is really what learning in college is about—this will be the period where you go from teacher-taught to master-inspired, after which you must become a self-learner. So do take each subject seriously, and even if what you learn isn't critical for your life, the skills of learning will be something you cherish forever, so do your best in classes and learn.
Take care of yourself and follow your passion in college. Take courses you think you will enjoy. Don't be trapped in what others think or say.
Most importantly, make friends and be happy. College friends are often the best in life. Pick a few friends and become really close to them—pick the ones who are genuine and sincere to you. People are not perfect, so as long as they are genuine and sincere, trust them and be good to them. They will give back. This is my secret of success—I am genuine with people and trust them (unless they do something to lose my trust).
Please treasure your college years—make the best of your free time, become an independent thinker in control of your destiny, be bold to experiment, learn and grow through your successes and challenges. May Columbia University become the happiest four years in your life, and may you blossom into just what you dream to be.
Love,
Dad

It was the middle of the day with bright sun, blue sky, green grass, and a soft breeze(微风). It was a great day to play outside and the best day of my life because I got a new ball and a new bike as my sixth birthday presents, and I was visiting my cousin, Kristy, at her house.
"Here I go!" shouted David while kicking my new ball. David lived next door and was older than me. I thought he was a wild child, but he was actually very kind. The ball went flying as if it were going to space. "That is high!" Kristy said in surprise and we went after the ball. We all had a great time.
Later we had supper and the food my aunt made was good. While Kristy was helping do the dishes, David and I ran outside to play. We started taking turns to ride my bike. David suggested that we ride it to the forest, and I agreed. David and I got on the bike and David started going fast.
As we rode through the forest, I felt the wind brushing my face. It felt so great and free. Suddenly the bike hit a fallen branch and we went flying off the bike. Lying on the ground, I felt dizzy(眩晕的). I checked myself for injuries and saw some but they didn't bother me.
"David!" I shouted out loudly and anxiously.
"Hey," said a voice. I turned my head and it was David, who was standing behind me, holding my broken bike. At the sight of my damaged bike, I was so sad that I couldn't hold back my tears. It took David some time to calm me down.

第三部分 写作
第一节
答案:Dear Andrew,
I’m writing to share with you what makes a good friend.
A good friend should be honest. As a saying goes, a good friend is like a mirror and lets you know what is happening. Whether you are right or wrong, you are told the truth. Besides, a good friend should be trustworthy. He will always be there for you. Lastly, being humorous is just as important. Nothing can make spending time together more fun than a friend who makes you laugh.
What do you think I’m looking forward to your ideas.
Yours,
Li Hua

Having walked anxiously for about an hour in the forest, we failed to find our way out.
Paragraph 2:
It was completely dark when we saw fireworks(烟火) being set off in the distance. We ran excitedly in that direction as fast as possible. Soon we found my aunt's house, in front of which my cousin Kristy was holding some fireworks and lighting them. Seeing us come back safely, Kristy cheerfully hugged us. She told us that when noticing we had been away for long, she was concerned about our safety. She set off fireworks to draw our attention and guide us. It was an unforgettable experience. Without David's comfort and Kristy's fireworks, I would have lost in the forest forever.
