1. Knowledge and Skills:
a. Develop students’ skimming and scanning skills through reading tasks
b. Help the students understand the structure of the passage and internalize it by
a writing task.
2. Process and Methods:
a. Develop students’ reading skills and writing skills through task-based teaching
b. Develop students’ awareness of corporation by team work.
3. Emotion and Values:
Develop students’ ability to work with others.
Difficulties and Importance:
a. How to improve students’ reading ability by practicing reading skills.
b. How to help students summarize the structure of the passage and use it to write a similar passage.
Teaching Methods:
a. Task-based methodology
b. Communicative Approach
Teaching aids: PPT Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead-in
Watching a short video to lead in the topic.
Step 2 Pre-reading
Vocabulary preparation by asking questions about the video and pictures.
Step 3 While- reading
Task 1 Read the whole passage and divide the passage into three parts.
(To develop the reading skill of skimming.)
Task 2 Read the passage and fill in the blanks.
(To develop the reading skill of scanning.) Step 4 Post-reading
Summarize the structure of the passage and know how to develop a passage.
Task 3 Discussion and writing
(To brainstorm useful words and expressions and to work together to write a passage.)
Summary for the whole class
Homework:
Write a passage about the topic your group has chosen.
