Have you ever seen a play performed Seeing a good play is like seeing into the hearts and minds of people.
The play is performed by actors and actresses who have to act in such a way that you, the audience(观众), really believe it is all happening to real people right now before your eyes for the first time.
In many plays the whole story happens in one place, a kitchen, a park, anywhere. But in some plays the story takes place in more than one place. The place is called the scene or setting of the play.
Long plays are divided into parts called acts, and sometimes acts are divided into shorter parts called scenes.
There are one-act plays that take between 30 and 45 minutes to perform, and full-length plays (usually of three acts) that take more than an hour and a half to perform. Skits and sketches(幽默表演和小品)that are performed in five or ten minutes are not plays.
