Many people travel to different places in the world by air. Usually it takes a long time, perhaps half a day, for passengers to stay in the plane. So airlines offer passengers food. But it is common that they feel bad about food taste.
To solve this problem, airlines try hard to improve their food. They would like to do so because they don’t want to lose customers.
However, according to scientific research, part of the reason why plane food tastes bad is that at high altitude we can not taste things as well as we do on the ground. Also scientists have found that our noses become very dry even before a plane takes off. As the plane moves up, the change in air pressure reduces one third of the sensibility of our taste buds (味蕾). So our taste buds become senseless. The sad fact, however, is that our noses don’t know it.
All of these help explain why food on the plane tastes so bad. They also help explain why airlines choose to offer passengers salty and spicy food. Without doing so, the food would be tasteless.
Now there are many researches on this. According to one of them, some volunteers are asked to lie with their feet higher than their heads for weeks. And scientists write down their feelings about food taste.
Though scientists try their best, it is not as easy as they thought. Because they can’t deal with the special environment successfully, such as the change in air pressure, making food taste good is still hard for them.
Which is the reason why plane food tastes bad
Food will easily go bad at high altitude.
People’s noses become too dry to smell anything.
The change in air pressure reduces part of the sensibility to taste.
Plane food is not salty and spicy enough.
Why do scientists feel it hard to make food on the plane taste good
Because there are not enough researchers on this.
Because different people have different tastes for food.
Because volunteers can’t lie with their feet higher for long.
Because the environment on the plane is too special to deal with.
What is the best title of the passage
A. Taste of Airplane Food B. Airplane Travel
C. Scientific Research on Taste Buds D. The Change in Air Pressure

Have you tried eating insects “Although they look a little strange, they are crunchy (脆 的). I eat them for their protein,” Yang Xingyu, who likes fried insects, told China Daily.
A growing number of people are beginning to eat insects such as beetles, bees and grasshoppers. They can be fried, boiled with soup, or mixed with dessert. About 2 billion people have already added insects to their diets, according to a UN report.
Insects are rich in protein, vitamins and minerals. As professor Guo Jianjun at Guizhou University said, insects are known as "God's last piece of cake for mankind”.
“Most of the fat in insects is unsaturated fatty acid (不饱和脂肪酸),” Guo said. “It’s good for the heart and brain. Insects are sometimes used in medicines as well. Researchers have been looking at how eating insects can make humans’ immune function better.”
More importantly, insects are rich in number. They can play an important role in fighting the lack of food due to the growing population worldwide. According to the UN, the global population will rise to 8.5 billion by 2030, and about 10.4 billion by the 2080s. It is rising much faster than the availability of food, said Huang Dawei from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Developing new food sources is needed right away.
Eating insects helps with the environment, compared with traditional food sources. For example, pigs produce 10 to 100 times more greenhouse gases per kilogram than mealworms (面包虫), reported China Daily.
“We study insects which can be eaten to benefit our own health, animal health and environmental health,” said Huang.

A. Because they are good for health.
B. Because some of them taste like cakes.

Twelve Dancing Princesses is a German fairy tale. It is included in the Children’s and Household Tales (《格林童话》) by the Grimm brothers.
Tramper could feel the stony road through the holes in his boots. A newspaper blew by. Tramper picked it up and sat down to cover the holes in his boots with the paper.
A weak old lady stared at him.
“You think you have shoe troubles!” she said. “The King has twelve girls and all of them have holes in their slippers!”
The old lady’s feet were bare (光脚的), cut and purple from the cold. Tramper felt sorry for her, so he gave her his shabby boots. To thank him, she gave Tramper her dirty cloak (斗篷). As she walked away down the road, she called, “Stay awake. Drink no drop. Taste no cup.”
“A strange way to say goodbye,” thought Tramper.

The king’s twelve daughters were a mystery. Each night they took off their silk slippers and went to bed. But each morning their silk slippers were full of holes, and the girls were tired out.

While the COVID-19 has prevented people from traveling, there’s a silver lining to that dark cloud: micro-tourism, or mini-vacations.
With the pandemic prevention and control measures making long trips less convenient, more and more Chinese people choose to take short trips instead.
But the pandemic meant that people had to adapt to a new travel style. Traveling a long distance means people should take public transportation. 38 To stay healthy, short-distance travel is the better choice.
After a long and tiring week at work, people like to invite three or four friends and drive to the suburbs on weekends. 39 Other times, they just bring camping gear, a camera, some food and water, and walk around the mountains or parks. 40 For example, in 2020, Shanghai launched a number of micro-tourism products for half-day and one-day tours, including exploring cultural heritage sites in the city, experiencing rural life and going hiking.
To adapt to the new trend, many cities also create more opportunities for tourists.
Sometimes people will have a hot spring gathering.
Before the pandemic, people preferred taking long trips abroad or going to see places of interest in other Chinese provinces.
But that would be likely to increase the chances of infection (感染).
Micro-tourism refers to short-distance travel in which people drive two or three hours to a nearby place and spend two or three days.
